[Zeng Shirong] When heat pathogen is extreme and accompanied by wind, it causes redness, swelling, and pain in the eyes, preventing them from opening day or night, with incessant crying due to fright. Initially, use Jiuxian San (Nine Immortals Powder) decocted with water, ginger, and scallion for oral administration; subsequently, use Sandjie San (Three-Release Powder) mixed with warm rice wash water, and apply Huanglian Gao (Coptis Ointment) topically to the eyes. If it is a sudden onset of redness, swelling, and pain caused by epidemic pathogens, suffering severely day and night, leading to visual blurring over time, the treatment method is first to release the exterior with Jiuxian San, then administer Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) with Banxia (Pinellia Rhizome) removed, plus Dahuang (Rhubarb Root), Bohe (Mint), Zhuye (Bamboo Leaf), and Shengdihuang (Rehmannia Root), decocted in water. Concurrently, administer Caolongdan San (Gentian Powder) and apply Huanglian Gao, as well as paste Qingliang Gao (Cooling Ointment). In children with inherently weak Stomach Qi but excessive Spleen pathogenic factors, causing red and swollen eyelids and photophobia preventing opening, if bitter-cold herbs are suddenly used to reduce redness and swelling, it will instead damage the Spleen and Stomach, leading to vomiting or diarrhea, or slightly cold limbs. Re-treating with warm herbs will exacerbate the eye disease; in such cases, use Wuling San (Five-Ling Powder) decocted with water, ginger, and Jixin (Centipede Grass) first, followed by Xiehuang San (Drain Yellow Powder) for spontaneous recovery. For chronic accumulation of heat in the Heart and Spleen, and Liver affected by pathogenic heat, causing photophobia, swollen eyelids, slight purplish discoloration, constipation or normal bowel movements, and dysuria or normal urination, first release the exterior with Baijie San (Hundred-Release Powder), then administer Mingmu Yin (Bright-Eye Drink) for natural recovery, while avoiding alcohol and meat for three to five days. Children with frail constitutions often suffer from dust entering the eyes, rubbing causing swelling, fever, pain, and incessant crying; use Bicong Gao (Dust-Repelling Ointment) for immediate effect.
[Tang] Daochi San (Guide Out Red Powder): Treats Heart heat causing red urine, and red, swollen eyes.

Preparation: Grind into powder. Decoct with Jixin (Centipede Grass) and Heidou (Black Soybean), take after meals.
I have never suffered from red eye disease in my life, and this formula works like magic; it can be used for both adults and children. At the initial stage of red and dry eyes, simply use one's own urine, open the eyes wide to urinate, catch some urine on a finger, smear it into the eye, then close the eye; relief occurs shortly. This uses true Qi to expel pathogenic heat.
