[Chao Yuanfang] From the period of Bianzheng (periodic physiological changes in infants) to the ability to speak, as days pass, the blood vessels, bone joints, and patella gradually develop completely, enabling the child to walk. Bones are nourished by bone marrow; if the innate vital Qi and Blood are insufficient, the bone marrow will not be full and strong, leading to incomplete bone development and resulting in an inability to walk for several years.
[Zhang Shi] For any infant, upon reaching one year of age (360 days), when the knee bones mature, they can begin to walk. In recent times, many children suffer from weak fetal Qi due to their parents' deficiency of Qi and Blood, resulting in weak bone Qi, soft bones, and powerless sinews and vessels, making it difficult to walk. She Rong Dan (Musk and Deer Antler Pill) is indicated for this condition and has proven highly effective.
[Tang Shi] Children with insufficient innate Qi and Blood have inadequate bone marrow, causing soft bones and an inability to walk. The Kidney governs bone marrow; therefore, the treatment method should employ Qian Yi's Bushen Dihuang Wan (Kidney-Nourishing Rehmannia Pill) supplemented with Lu Rong (Deer Antler), Wu Jia Pi (Acanthopanacis Cortex), and She Xiang (Musk). This promotes marrow generation and strengthens bones, naturally restoring the ability to walk. The son of my nephew, Huang Zhilu, could not walk at age three; after administering this formula, there was a verified effect.
[Zhang Shi] She Rong Dan (Musk and Deer Antler Pill) treats the inability to walk after several years of age.
She Xiang (Musk, processed separately) [Moschus], Rong (Deer Antler, fried with lard until yellow) [Cervi Cornu Degelatinatum], Sheng Gan Di Huang (Raw Dried Rehmanniae Radix) [Rehmanniae Radix], Hu Jing Gu (Tiger Tibia Bone, coated with lard and fried until yellow) [Tigris Ossis Tibiae], Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, washed and dried) [Angelicae Sinensis Radix], Huang Qi (Astragali Radix, sliced).
Each ingredient is taken in equal amounts (one liang). Grind into fine powder. Boil four liang of sheep marrow until soft and mix with the powder to form a paste. Shape into pills the size of millet seeds. Take ten pills each time, administered with Chen Xiang Tang (Agarwood Decoction) prepared by grinding agarwood. Take before nursing or eating, three times daily.
[Qian Yi] Ling Yang Jiao Wan (Antelope Horn Pill) treats Kidney deficiency in children, or weak sinews and bones after illness, where the child cannot walk at five or six years of age. It is suitable for tonifying the Liver and Kidney.
Ling Yang Jiao (Antelope Horn, fine tip with dense nodes, ground to powder) [Saiga Tataricae Cornu], Hu Jing Gu (Tiger Tibia Bone, cracked, coated with lard and fried until yellow) [Tigris Ossis Tibiae], Sheng Gan Di Huang (Raw Dried Rehmanniae Radix, dried) [Rehmanniae Radix], Suan Zao Ren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen, skin removed, fried) [Ziziphi Spinosae Semen], Bai Fu Ling (Poria Cocos, half liang each) [Poria], Gui Zhi (Cinnamon Twig, bark removed, use aromatic parts, avoid fire) [Cinnamomi Ramulus], Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, radix removed, sliced, dried) [Saposhnikoviae Radix], Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, same preparation as above) [Angelicae Sinensis Radix], Huang Qi (Astragali Radix, sliced and dried, two qian half each) [Astragali Radix].
Grind all ingredients into fine powder. Mix with refined honey to form pills. Take an amount the size of a soap pod each time, increasing dosage for older children. Take before meals, dissolved in warm water, three to four times daily. Long-term administration yields results.
*Taiping Shenghui Fang* Sheng Gan Di Huang Wan (Raw Dried Rehmannia Pill) treats children who cannot walk even at ten years of age.

All in equal proportions.
Crush and sieve. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of mung beans. Take ten pills before meals with warm wine, adjusting dosage according to the child's condition.
Hu Gu San (Tiger Bone Powder)
Hu Jing Gu (Tiger Tibia Bone, wine-fried) [Tigris Ossis Tibiae], Sheng Gan Di Huang (Raw Dried Rehmanniae Radix) [Rehmanniae Radix], Suan Zao Ren (Ziziphi Spinosae Semen, soaked in wine, skin removed, fried until fragrant) [Ziziphi Spinosae Semen], La Gui (Spicy Cinnamon Bark, peeled) [Cinnamomi Cortex], Bai Fu Ling (Poria Cocos, peeled) [Poria], Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, radix removed) [Saposhnikoviae Radix], Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, radix removed) [Angelicae Sinensis Radix], Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) [Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma], Niu Xi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix, soaked in wine, radix removed). All in equal proportions.
Grind into extremely fine powder. Take one qian half each time, mixed with rice drink (congee water), add two drops of good wine, mix well, and take before meals, twice daily.
Alternative method: Form pills with refined honey, size of millet seeds. Administer with Mu Gua Tang (Papaya Decoction).
*Sanyin Fang* Wu Jia Pi San (Acanthopanax Powder) treats children unable to walk at age three, caused by insufficient received Qi, physical weakness, and soft sinews, bones, waist, spine, legs, and knees. Use genuine Wu Jia Pi (Acanthopanacis Cortex) ground to powder, mixed with rice drink, adding a little good wine. Take approximately the volume of a chestnut shell each time, three times daily, which is effective. Alternative: Wu Jia Pi (two qian half), Mu Gua (Papaya Fruit, one qian two fen half), ground to extremely fine powder. Mix with rice drink and two drops of wine, then administer.
*You You Xin Shu* Children with "bone heat" and cold Lung pulse may have long-term inability to walk. *Lun Xin Jing* notes that improper holding of infants from birth leads to thin, powerless legs and inability to stand or walk, or conditions such as bone heat, Guan syndrome (malnutrition), and consumption, with emaciated muscles. Chai Hu Yin (Bupleurum Drink) is appropriate.
Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix) [Bupleuri Radix], Bie Jia (Softshell Turtle Shell, coated with rice vinegar and fried until yellow) [Trionycis Carapax et Plastrum], Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma) [Anemarrhenae Rhizoma], Jie Geng (Platycodonis Radix) [Platycodonis Radix], Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus, pith removed, bran-fried) [Aurantii Fructus Pericarpium], Xuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix) [Scrophulariae Radix], Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) [Cimicifugae Rhizoma].
All in equal proportions, finely sliced. For children under three years, use half liang of herbs, boil in five he of water until reduced to two he. Divide into two doses, take on an empty stomach before meals.
Avoid toxic foods after taking medicine. Bathe after administration.

For those without meridian injury from acupuncture/moxibustion, four to five pills are effective. For a ten-year-old, divide one pill into three doses. This herb circulates Ying and Wei, guides meridians, and specifically treats the Heart, Kidney, and Liver meridians. A sign of efficacy is decreased urine output and dysuria after administration.
