The aforementioned herbs are pounded, sifted into a fine powder, mixed with Borneolum Syntheticum, and ground until uniform. Each night before sleep, a quantity the size of a mung bean is insufflated into the nose. The emergence of a small amount of clear fluid indicates efficacy.
Zhang Huan's Qingfei Gao (Lung-Clearing Ointment) treats various nasal diseases.
Ingredients include: Trichosanthis Fructus (Gua Di, 0.5 liang), Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata (Fu Zi, one piece, processed, peel and umbilicus removed), Adzuki Bean (Chi Xiao Dou), Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xi Xin), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gan Cao, each 1 fen.
