Huang San (Yellow Powder), Taohong San (Peach Kernel and Safflower Powder), Hupo Xijiao Gao (Amber and Rhinoceros Horn Ointment), Jiuming San (Life-Saving Powder), Niubangzi Wan (Arctostaphylos Seed Pill), Pengsha San (Borax Powder).
The *Neijing* (Classic of Internal Medicine) states: Patients with Gallbladder disease (Dan Bing) often sigh deeply, have a bitter taste in the mouth, vomit old bile, experience a sensation of obstruction or discomfort in the throat (Yi Zhong), and spit frequently. Treatment should involve needling Yanglingquan (GB34). It also states: The symptoms of Heart Cough (Xin Ke) include a sensation of obstruction in the throat as if something is stuck. Treatment should involve the Shu-stream point of the Heart meridian (Shenmen, HT7) and Daling (PC7). Zhang Zhongjing stated: When women feel as if there is a roasted piece of meat stuck in their throat, Banxia Houpo Tang (Pinellia and Magnolia Bark Decoction) is the primary formula. Other formulas include Shegan San (Belamcanda Powder), Hanhua Longnao Wan (Borneol Lozenge Pill), Muxiang San (Costus Powder), Luoshi Tang (Trachelospermum Decoction), Siwei Tang (Four-Ingredient Decoction), and Xingren Jian Wan (Apricot Seed Decoction Pill).
A person suffering from Chanhou Feng (Coiling Throat Wind, an acute condition of severe throat swelling and pain) who cannot swallow food may swallow a thin paste made from barley flour. If there is throat blockage, sores in the nose, dry heaving, headache, and inability to eat, take one raw egg, crack one end, remove the white while discarding the yolk, mix with rice vinegar, heat over fire until boiling, then immediately remove from heat. Let it settle, then repeat this boiling process three times. Drink the vinegar while hot. Recovery usually occurs within one or two doses. Physician Wang's method: In winter, eating three to five slices of raw radish before bed can prevent throat diseases.
The *Sanyin Fang* records: Boil Allii Macrostemonis Bulbus (Xiebai) until half-cooked, tie it with a thread, hold the thread, chew a small amount of Xiebai and swallow. When the Xiebai reaches the point of obstruction, pull the thread, and the obstruction will be expelled. A secret recipe uses dust hanging from a silver furnace, mixed with sugar into pills, which are swallowed to naturally expel the object. For fish bone impaction, use Hibiscus tiliaceus leaf oil, Euphorbia humifusa (Mapibo), and sugar, boiled into a paste for pills to be held in the mouth and dissolved. Crush Cannabis sativa root, form into pills the size of a marble, and swallow using decoction made from the impacted object. Hang a dog by one leg, collect its saliva, and swallow slowly. Jiansancao (Polygonum aviculare), growing like wild Cyrtomium between fences, has white roots that become gelatinous when ground; swallow with flowing water to expel the bone, effective within two or three doses. Grind Hemerocallis citrina root and swallow with flowing water, which is also good. Grind Natrii Sulfas (Piaoxiao), mix with Mentha haplocalyx (Jisu), form into marble-sized pills, and dissolve in the mouth; three or four pills suffice. Nanborsha (South Borax), washed with well water, dissolved in the mouth, is most effective at softening bones. Contraindicated for internal use without caution. Decoct Cyathula officinalis (Guanzhong) strongly to make one and a half cups, divide into three doses taken consecutively; after a short time, coughing will expel the bone. For fish bone impaction, blow a small amount of Gleditsia sinensis powder (Zaojiao) into the nose to induce sneezing, expelling the bone. Equal parts of Camellia sinensis (Xicha) and Galbulichondrus (Wubeizi) ground into powder, blown into the throat, cures immediately. Eating olives helps the bone pass; alternatively, grind the pit into powder and swallow with flowing water. For sharp pain in the abdomen caused by fish bones, drink one cup of Zanthoxylum bungeanum juice (Zhuyu); the bone softens and passes. For chicken bone impaction, crush Hydrilla verticillata (Shuicao) and drink the juice; the bone dissolves. Wash and crush Pueraria lobata root (Yegen) into a paste; take a size of a longan fruit. If injured by a chicken bone, swallow with chicken soup; if by a fish bone, swallow with fish soup. For rice awns, chaff, or grain stuck in the throat, hang a goose by one leg to collect saliva and swallow slowly to eliminate the obstruction. Chewing Jiantoucao is also excellent. For swallowing nails, iron, gold, silver, or copper coins, eating plenty of fatty meat will cause them to pass naturally with feces. For coins or iron objects stuck in the throat unable to descend, burn Nanzhugen (Castopsidis Radix) to fine powder, mix with water, and take one qian. For swallowing iron or needles, use half a jin of Yitang (Maltose), mixed with strong mugwort decoction. Alternatively, grind Magnetitum (Cishi) to the size of a jujube pit, drill a hole, thread it, and let the patient swallow it into the throat to draw out the needle. The Magnetitum must be verified by Yin-Yang practitioners. Zhang Zihe treated a child who accidentally swallowed a coin stuck in the throat. He rolled clean white paper tightly like a chopstick, cut the end crosswise to create a hook shape, attached another chopstick with a needle hook to the end to prevent detachment, gently probed the throat, felt the hook enter the coin's hole, inserted the paper roll into the throat against the hook tip, ensuring it did not damage muscle tissue, and lifted it out. To expel swallowed coins, burn charcoal to powder, mix with warm water, and take several spoonfuls; or take about one sheng of honey. Or eat water chestnuts or cyrtomium, and the coin will dissolve. Or boil one bunch of Artemisia argyi in five sheng of water until reduced to one sheng, take in one dose. Or soak four liang of Stemona root in one sheng of wine overnight, take one sheng warm, twice daily. For swallowed hairpins, sun-dry Allii Macrostemonis Bulbus until yellow, boil until cooked without chopping, and swallow with one large jujube to expel it. For swallowing coins, hairpins, and other objects, gradually consume one jin of maltose. For hair wrapped around the throat unable to come out, take ash from shed human hair, mix with warm water, and take one qian. Chen Wuyue said: All methods for treating impaction can be inferred by analogy; for example, using skull-related methods for fish impaction, Magnetitum for needle impaction, hair ash for hair impaction, and animal-based remedies for bone impaction, each following the principle of similarity.
