Realgar (1 fen), Fen Shuang (Half an liang, each finely ground), Dung Beetle (4 pieces, ground, used raw), Croton Seed (3 grains, husk removed, separately ground into paste, used raw).
Grind all ingredients together uniformly. Use the tip of a copper chopstick to dip in cow's milk, apply to the wound frequently. After seven days, when the wound matures, the arrowhead will naturally expel.
Hong San Zi (Red Powder): Rub onto metal-induced wounds.
Caowu Jian (Aconitum Kusnezoffii Root Tip), Qilinjie (Dragon's Blood), Qiezi Hua (Eggplant Flower), Manduoluo Zi (Datura Seed), Bimazi Zi (Castor Bean, husk removed, finely ground, half an liang each).

Formula for Expelling Arrowheads
Dung Beetle (ten naturally dead ones), Tugouzi (Three mole crickets), Nvren Fa Hui (Ash of women's hair, a small amount).
Remove the shell from the dung beetles and take the white flesh. Grind together with the other two ingredients into a paste. Apply raw to the site of the arrow injury like a plaster. After application, slight itching may occur internally; immediately rub with both hands, and the arrowhead will naturally expel.
Jiegu Wan (Bone-Loosening Pill): Treats unexpelled arrowheads.
Xionghuang (Realgar, ground), Dung Beetle (ground), Xiangya Mo (Ivory Powder, equal parts each).
Grind into fine powder. Mix with refined honey to form pills the size of millet seeds. Insert into the wound, then chew sheep kidney fat and rub/apply to the area. When itching is felt, the arrowhead will naturally expel.
This formula is suitable for treating arrowheads entering the bone, causing pain due to difficulty in removal.
Croton Seed, Dung Beetle (three pieces each).
Grind and apply to the injured area. Wait until pain subsides and slight itching occurs; endure it. If extreme itching becomes unbearable, shake and pull out the arrowhead. Subsequently, apply a raw ointment. After washing with Huang Lian Guan Zhong Tang (Coptis and Gentiana Decoction), apply Niudan Zhi Fenghua Duanshi (Fenghua Dried Stone treated with ox bile) to treat malignant sores as well.
Xiahou Dan stated: I first obtained this formula in Runzhou. After the arrowhead was expelled, quickly apply Shengji Gao (Flesh-Regenerating Ointment). Some say it also treats sores. After obtaining this formula, Dan went to an inn in Hongzhou. The owner's wife suffered from a back sore and groaned in pain. Dan tried this formula on her and cured her.
Formula for Unexpelled Arrowheads
Cishi (Magnetite, raw crushed, ground extremely fine), Xionghuang (Realgar, ground, three fen each).

Formula for Extracting Arrowheads
Use one Tian Shui Niu (Heavenly Water Ox); those with a single horn are especially good. Place in a small bottle. Add one qian of Borax, finely ground. Add a little water to soak; it will naturally dissolve into liquid. Drip this medicinal liquid onto the injury site; the arrowhead will naturally expel.
Zhao Lingwei, Commander-in-Chief of Huaixi, whose name belongs to Dian, son of Yan Mi, said: Fang Yuwei's formula was repeatedly sought by Zhang Xunwang but denied. It was eventually presented to Deshou Palace and granted to him with miraculous effects. It is largely similar to Yang Shi's formula using Croton Seed and Dung Beetle.
For treating arrowheads lodged in the throat, chest/diaphragm, or other areas unable to expel.
Use five rat livers, finely chopped and mashed, then applied. Also apply rat brain marrow or rat head blood; both are effective. Also treats human needles broken off in flesh unable to expel, and blade injuries.
Nixi Gao (Achyranthes Ointment): Treats arrowheads lodged in the throat, chest/diaphragm, or other areas unable to expel.
Crush Nixi (Achyranthes Root) in any quantity into powder. Mix with hot water and apply to the arrowhead to expel it. Also effective for burns or moxibustion sores that do not heal.

Langdang Ke (Datura Herb, i.e., Hyoscyamus niger seedling).
On the day before Dragon Boat Festival, observe silence. Search extensively for the above herbs. Upon finding them, harvest one complete specimen (roots, branches, leaves, fruits intact). Say aloud: "Sir, you are here." Then, surround the plant with wood ash starting from the southeast. Use a wooden comb to loosen the surrounding soil. On the next day, Dragon Boat Festival, before sunrise, maintain silence again. Use a wooden stick to pry up the plant in one motion, retrieve it, and wash clean. Do not let women, chickens, or dogs see it. In a pure room, pound in a stone mortar into a paste. Form pills the size of marbles. Coat with Zhudan (Red Lead). Seal in a paper bag and hang high to dry in the shade. If struck by an arrow that cannot be expelled, place one pill of this medicine in a crimson silk bag inside the umbilicus. Wrap abdomen with cotton cloth and tie securely. First apply Xiangya Mo (Ivory Powder) to the wound, then use this medicine. If the arrow wound closes up, scrape open slightly with a knife, apply Ivory Powder, and the arrow will follow. The Shaanxi Provincial Military Command once used this formula effectively.
[Ben]: Treats unexpelled arrowheads. Pound Trichosanthes Root and apply to the sore, changing three times daily; it will naturally expel.
[Shi]: Li Bo treated unexpelled arrowheads and malignant splinters by chewing Heqi (Henbane) and applying.
[Yao]: There are two types of poisoned arrows. Barbarians in Jiaozhi and Guangling use copper arrows. This type causes suffocation, pus boiling, rotting, and death upon skin penetration. If hit, drink urine juice and apply externally; this is best. Another type uses She Wang (Aconite poison) coated on arrowheads. Humans hit become distressed. If hit in a broad area, survival is possible; if near the abdomen, urgent treatment is required. The current Ge Shi Fang (Ge's Formula) treats She Wang poisoning. (Ge's Formula uses Salt Juice, Soybeans, Pig Blood, Sheep Blood to detoxify).
Lanzhi Yin (Isatis Juice Drink): Treats poisoning from venomous arrows.
Pound Isatis root to obtain one sheng of juice. Drink it. Apply the dregs to the wound. If Isatis is unavailable, soak Qingbu (Blue Cloth), wring out juice, drink it, and pour over the wound containing the arrowhead. If it does not expel, pound Rat Liver and apply; Rat Brain is also acceptable. Use leads to expulsion.
Beizi San (Cowrie Shell Powder): Treats venomous arrows.
Pound Cowrie Shells into powder. Take one qian bi per dose, mixed with warm wine. No fixed schedule; take three to four doses. This formula treats poisoning and relieves pain from metal-induced wounds.
