According to the *Gui Yi Fang* (Ghost's Remnant): Yang abscesses arise on the dorsum of the foot and the sole. If they do not ulcerate within twenty days, death ensues. They can be punctured within ten days. If the discharge of red-white pus and blood is scanty, and the surface of the sore becomes itchy with a red-black color, this indicates a fatal prognosis. "Fu" (dorsum of foot) is also written as "Fu", referring to the top of the foot. This area involves the convergence of the Foot Jueyin Liver Meridian and the Foot Yangming Stomach Meridian. It is often caused by damp-heat pathogens descending due to deficiency. Treatment should involve administering Huoming Yin (Life-Saving Decoction) augmented with Chaenomelis Fructus (Guamu), Cinnamomi Cortex (Rougui), and Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix (Niuxi), combined with garlic-partitioned moxibustion. Subsequently, Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten-Agent Great Tonifying Decoction) and Tuoli Wenzhong Tang (Supporting Interior and Warming Middle Decoction) should be given. If the pus is thick, the condition is treatable; if the pus is thin and the sore is purple and sunken, it is fatal.
One patient suffered from this on the dorsum of the foot, presenting with redness, swelling, and pain. After thirty-plus moxa cones applied via garlic partition, the pain ceased. Four doses of Huoming Yin led to ulceration, and subsequent administration of Tuoli Xiaodu drugs (Interior-Supporting and Toxin-Expelling Medicines) resulted in recovery. Another patient had a lesion on the dorsum of the foot that was dark in color without swelling or pain, accompanied by restlessness and intense thirst. The Chi pulse was large and choppy, indicating exhaustion of essence and qi, which is untreatable; the patient subsequently died.
The mother of Zhao Zigu, Ms. Liu, aged sixty, had a sore on the dorsum of her left foot extending down to the big toe and up to the lateral malleolus, reaching the tibia. It recurred several times a year, each episode lasting dozens of days or even months. Severe itching occurred at dusk, leading to bleeding like a spring upon scratching, with unbearable groaning and pain. Symptoms gradually subsided after midnight but returned when the moon rose. Each medication taken exacerbated the sore, enlarging it and intensifying the condition; hundreds of attempts failed over more than twenty years. In late winter of the Jiachen year of Chunxi (1184), while Zhao Zigu served as Vice Minister of the Imperial Household, his mother's illness suddenly worsened one night. They wept together, having no solution. Exhausted, he fell asleep and dreamed of four divine monks silently exiting a room. Beside them was a long couch where Zhao Zigu sat, sighing. One monk asked the reason, and Zhao answered truthfully. The monk said, "You may take Niuhuang Jinhu Dan (Ox Gallstone and Golden Tiger Pill)." Another monk added, "Cinnabar will also work." Upon waking, he was startled and amazed. He tried taking nearly half a pill forcibly. After a long time, severe pain ensued, causing the whole family to weep and regret. Soon, several sheng of iron-stone-like fecal matter were discharged. That night, the sore only itched slightly without pain or bleeding. Within a few days, a scab formed, and he was cured thereafter. The suggestion regarding Cinnabar was never tested again. Zhao Zigu then drew portraits of the dream monks and recorded the event. Jinhu Dan originates from the *Heji Jufang* (Bureau of Prescriptions for Relief of the World), originally treating stroke with phlegm-fluid obstruction. Ingredients such as Calculus Bovis (Niuhuang), Borax (Longnao), Calomelas (Nifen), and Gold Leaf (Jinbo) are generally unsuitable for the elderly. Yet here it achieved miraculous results. It is hypothesized that heat-toxins accumulated in the zang-fu organs and manifested on the skin; deep-rooted over years, difficult to cleanse, cold-natured medicines were borrowed to attack the pathogen, deviating from standard protocols. The dream of divine monks was likely a result of filial piety moving heaven.

For malignant sores on the dorsum of the foot spreading like sesame oil, and for all malignant sores, regardless of dryness/wetness, pain/itching, chronic duration, or failure of other treatments.
Take 20-30 grains of sheep dung. Place on a tile, burn around with charcoal until smoke stops and fire extinguishes. Remove with chopsticks, place on ground, cover with a bowl to preserve properties. Sieve into white ash, grind finely, sieve through gauze to remove sand/dirt. Mix with Sesame Oil (Mayou) for application. For itching, add Calomelas (Qingfen); for pain, add a small amount of Moschus (Shexiang). Effective.
