The external genitalia belong to the Foot Jueyin Liver Meridian and are the meeting point of the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel). The *Suwen* states: "The meridians of Jueyin connect with the genitalia and are linked to the liver." The *Lingshu* says: "Sinews gather at the genitalia and their collaterals connect to the root of the tongue." The liver is the gathering place of sinews and also belongs to the Du Mai (Governing Vessel). The *Suwen* says: "The collaterals of the Du Mai circulate through the genitalia and merge in the perineum," which refers to this. As for the Foot Taiyang Bladder Meridian, it externally harmonizes with clear fluids, internally belongs to the bladder, and regulates water passages; the Hand Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian externally harmonizes with Huai water, internally belongs to the small intestine, and water passages emerge from it; thus, they also involve the Hand and Foot Taiyang meridians. The kidney governs water metabolism, so it also involves the Foot Shaoyin Kidney Meridian. When water enters the stomach, its essence and qi spread and float upward to be transported to the spleen; the spleen scatters the essence, sending it upward to return to the lung, which regulates water passages and transports them downward to the bladder; thus, it also involves the Hand Taiyin Lung Meridian. The *Suwen* further states: "The anterior yin is the gathering place of the Zongjin (Major Sinews) and the convergence of the Taiyin and Yangming meridians"; thus, it also involves the spleen and stomach. When carbuncles and sores arise in these areas, one must carefully investigate the etiology and assign responsibility correctly, rather than focusing solely on the Foot Jueyin Liver Meridian and treating only by clearing the liver and draining dampness, to avoid errors. Itching in the hidden areas forming sores, accompanied by tinnitus, itchy eyes, red nose, floating teeth, and white skin between fingers, is called Kidney Wind Sore (Shenzang Feng Chuang). Sores arising on the glans penis are called Glans Penis Carbuncle (Yintou Yong). Sores arising at the urethral orifice are called Chancre (Xiagan Chuang). Currently, we discuss only those arising on the penis, classifying them all as Chancre, tentatively following this classification.
[Kidney Wind Sore]
Academician Dai stated: Wind pathogen arises because the essence is not harmonized, and externally attacked by wind-dampness. It begins with itching from damp sweat in the scrotum, flows into the four limbs, causes white lesions in the finger webs, and generates sores throughout, commonly known as Kidney Wind. Use Er Sheng Yin (Four Generations Decoction) two liang. Slice one pair of pig kidneys finely with a bamboo knife, filter with wine in a silver or ceramic vessel, boil until soft, and grind finely. Mix with the medicine to make pills the size of sophora seeds. If pills cannot be made, add a little wine and vinegar. Take 50-60 pills each time on an empty stomach with salted wine. Alternatively, use She She San (Flower Snake Powder) combined with Xiao Feng San (Eliminate Wind Powder) mixed with wine; or take Sheng Ma He Qi Yin (Cimicifuga Harmonizing Qi Decoction), swallow Wu Tou Zhu Yan Wan (Aconite Boiled Salt Pills) and Wu Jing Wan, or Hua She Wan. If there is chronic dampness and itching requiring washing, decoct single herb Chuang Zi (Cnidium Fruit) in water for washing.
San Yin Si Sheng San (Three Causes Four Generations Powder): Treats wind attacking upward and downward, causing tinnitus, itchy eyes, red nose, floating teeth, or mouth ulcers; downward attack causing dampness and widespread itching in the yin area, body-wide sores, and women's blood wind syndromes.
Herbs: Bai Fu Zi (White Aconite Rhizome), Ji Li (Tribulus Fruit - remove spines), Huang Qi (Astragalus Root - honey-fried), Qiang Huo (Notopterygium Rhizome) (equal parts).
Grind into powder. Take two qian each time, mixed with salted wine. One person halved a pig kidney, added salt and medicine, and roasted it; this is also effective. This condition belongs to Zongjin (Major Sinews); the Stomach and Yangming nourish it, hence these symptoms.
Treating Kidney Wind: For those with white skin between fingers, one or two doses are effective.
Herbs: Huang Qi (Astragalus Root) (one liang), Mu Tong (Akebia Stem), Gan Cao (Licorice Root), Hei Qian Niu (Black Morning Glory Seed) (each half liang).
Finely chop the above four herbs. Use Ban Mao (Mylabris Beetle) seven pieces, remove wings, stir-fry with the medicine until charred black, remove the beetles, and grind the remainder into powder. Make pills with steamed bread paste, size of sesame seeds. Take 30 pills on an empty stomach with salted water.
Benshi Wu Tou Wan (Wu Tou Pill from Essential Abilities): Treats Kidney Wind, wind attacking upward and downward, generating sores and tinea.
Herbs: Chuan Wu Tou (Sichuan Aconite Lateral Root), Cao Wu Tou (Wild Aconite Lateral Root) (these two, boiled thoroughly with half sheng of black soybeans until soft, remove skin and navel, slice and dry, one liang each), Tian Ma (Gastrodia Rhizome), Di Long (Pheretima Earthworm - remove soil), Bai Fu Zi (White Aconite Rhizome) (each half liang).
Grind into powder, make pills with wine paste, size of sesame seeds. Take 20-30 pills each time before meals on an empty stomach, with salted wine or salted water as desired.
Kidney Wind: Wash with decoction of Gan Cao Jie (Licorice Joint), extremely effective.
For unbearable itching from Kidney Wind, use equal parts Wu Zhu Yu (Evodia Fruit) and Chuang Zi (Cnidium Fruit), decoct in water for washing, miraculous effect. To treat Kidney Yin Sweat Sores, use roots, stems, and leaves of Xian Cai (Amaranth), burn to ash retaining properties, grind fine, apply to broken skin for immediate healing. Also, decoct Cang Er Cao (Xanthium Herb) and Chuang Zi (Cnidium Fruit) for washing is good.
Quan Xie San (Scorpion Powder): Treats Kidney Wind inducing sore itching.
Herbs: Quan Xie (Scorpion) (three pieces, roasted), Ming Liu Huang (Sublimed Sulfur) (two qian, ground), Sheng Guo Dan (Red Lead Oxide) (one qian), Qing Fen (Calomel) (half qian), Xin Bing Lang (Areca Nut) (one large piece, split, insert one qian of good Huang Dan [Red Lead], wrap in wet paper and roast), She Xiang (Musk) (a little, ground).
Grind into fine powder and mix well, store in a porcelain box. Use a small amount each time, mix with sesame oil, and rub onto both palms. First sniff the aroma; men cover the external kidneys with both palms, women cover both breasts with both palms, sleep until waking; repeat the next day according to the previous method, frequently effective.
Mu Li San (Oyster Shell Powder): Treats sores on both sides of the scrotum or damp discharge from the yin area, with severe itching. Scratching at night is uncontrollable, followed by pain; or sweating in both armpits, wet soles, helpless situation; this medicine treats it. I personally suffered from this for decades, used this formula for two or three days, rubbed according to method, and did not relapse for over twenty years; truly miraculous.
Herbs: Mu Li (Oyster Shell), Huang Dan (Red Lead - fried) (each two liang), Ku Bai Fan (Alum - calcined) (four liang).
Grind into fine powder. At night before sleep, pinch medicine and rub firmly on the itchy yin area, reapply after a short while, reduce significantly after 3-4 times. Rub again the next night; even if greatly reduced, continue rubbing until naturally healed. For armpit sweat, direct application works; for foot sweat, apply first, then put medicine in boots or soles, or apply to soles and wrap feet, also effective.
Yu Du Tang (Bathe Poison Decoction): Treats Small Intestine Wind causing yin sore itching and pain.
Herbs: Mu Tong (Akebia Stem), Ben Cao (Ligusticum Rhizome), Zhi Ke (Aurantii Fructus), Guan Zhong (Cyrtomium Rhizome), Jing Jie (Schizonepeta Spike), Gan Song (Nardostachys Rhizome), Bo He (Mentha Herb), Bai Zhi (Angelica Dahurica Root).
Chop finely. Use two liang of medicine, five sheng of water, add half liang of Mang Xiao (Mirabilite), decoct to three sheng, strain. Wash sores with hot liquid.
Yin Chuang Gao (Yin Sore Ointment): Treats male and female yin sores.
Herbs: Mi Fen (Rice Flour) (about one wine cup), Shao Yao (Peony Root), Huang Qin (Scutellaria Root), Mu Li (Oyster Shell), Fu Zi (Aconite Lateral Root - processed), Bai Zhi (Angelica Dahurica Root) (each seven qian half).
Chop the above six herbs. Use one jin of lard that has not touched water, simmer over low heat with three cycles of heating and cooling. When Bai Zhi turns yellow and ointment forms, strain and remove dregs, add rice flour and mix. Apply to sores.
Xiao Yu Fang (Small Bath Formula): Treats deficiency consumption causing yin dampness, itching, and sores.
Herbs: Chuan Jiao (Sichuan Pepper), Ku Shen (Sophora Root), Chuang Zi (Cnidium Fruit) (each one liang half), Xiang Fu (Cyperus Rhizome), Bai Fan (Alum), Bai Zhi (Angelica Dahurica Root), Gou Ji (Cibotium Rhizome), Xi Xin (Asarum Root) (each one liang), Gui Xin (Cinnamon Twig Heart) (three fen).
Chop. Use one liang of medicine each time, three sheng of water, decoct to two sheng, strain, pour into basin. Sit over the basin to fumigate with steam for a long time, then wash the affected area with the whole body. Severe cases need no more than two or three treatments.
Mu Yu Chang Chun San (Bathe Eternal Spring Powder): Treats men's lower origin dampness and long-term cold, nocturnal itching on both sides of the scrotum, relief upon scratching but pain upon stopping, forming sores with fluid discharge, causing great harm. This medicine is effective and also treats women's lower part dampness and long-term cold womb.
Herbs: Mu Li (Oyster Shell), Chuang Zi (Cnidium Fruit), Po Gu Zhi (Psoralea Fruit), Zi Shao Hua (Penis Cynanchum), Guan Gui (Cinnamon Bark), Gan He Ye (Dried Lotus Leaf) (equal parts).
Chop. Use one liang half each time, one small pot of water, add several stalks of Cong Bai (Scallion White), decoct to eight-tenths full, strain. Fumigate first, then wash, then use the following medicine.
Herbs: Ku Fan (Calcined Alum) (one liang), Huang Dan (Red Lead), Ge Fen (Clam Powder) (each half liang).
Grind together into fine powder. After fumigation and washing, pinch powder and rub onto damp and itchy areas.

Herbs: Tong Lv (Verdigris) (a little), Bai Fan (Alum) (one qian), Ru Xiang (Frankincense) (half qian), Qing Fen (Calomel) (one zi), Wu Bei Zi (Chinese Gallnut) (fine ground, half liang).
Grind into powder. Cleanse and sprinkle on.
Qing Dai San (Indigo Powder [Kou]): A woman suffered from wet sores covering the area from below the umbilicus to the abdomen connecting to both yins, shaped like a malarial tumor, nowhere else. Hot, itchy, and painful, with difficult urination and defecation discharging yellow fluid, decreased appetite, and facial/body edema. Doctors treated it as a malignant sore, applying Moray Eel, Pine Resin, Red Lead, etc., which increased heat and pain due to incorrect treatment. Upon detailed inquiry, she loved alcohol and enjoyed fish and crab, foods that trigger wind. Urgently instructed her to wash off the plaster with warm water, find four liang of Ma Chi Xian (Purslane), grind it, add one liang of Qing Dai (Indigo Naturalis), mix well, and apply to the sore. Heat decreased immediately, pain and itching ceased. Continue taking Ba Zheng San (Eight Correctness Powder) three times daily to dissipate guest heat. Each time the medicine dried after one hour, reapply fresh wet medicine. After two days, symptoms reduced by one-third; after five days, by half. Healed completely in twenty days. Asked: What caused this sore? Answered: Accumulation of wind-heat toxic qi in the middle and lower jiao. If not expelled, it would become intestinal abscess or internal hemorrhoids. Must abstain from alcohol and wind-triggering foods. Later failed to abstain from alcohol and indeed developed internal hemorrhoids.

If sinews contract or relax, causing itching/pain or white discharge, this is Jin Han (Sinew Hernia); use Long Dan Xie Gan Tang (Gentian Liver-Draining Decoction). For Qi Deficiency, use Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang plus fried Shan Zhi and fried Long Dan. For Yin Deficiency with Fire Dryness, use Liu Wei Wan (Six Flavor Pill). For itching in the shaft with white discharge, use Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang alternately with Qing Xin Lian Zi Yin (Clear Heart Lotus Seed Decoction). This syndrome has Liver Yin Deficiency as the root and swelling/pain/chills/fever as the branch; must use Liu Wei Wan to generate Liver Blood. Whenever Spleen Earth Deficiency fails to generate Metal and Water, presenting all Liver syndromes, assist with Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang plus Mai Men Dong (Ophiopogon Tuber) to nourish the source of transformation.
[Zhu Danxi] Treating male Chi Chuang (Pubic Sore), whether pain is at the orifice of the shaft or at the tip, both indicate dysfunction of Hand and Foot Taiyang meridians, with Heat-Toxin transmitting downward to the Foot Jueyin, turning purple-black, becoming erosive sores destroying the shaft and causing death. Use Zhang Zi He's Xie Shui Wan (Water-Draining Pill) to scatter and guide out Damp-Toxin; none fail to heal. If sores have formed, first drain the root, then treat the branch. Externally wash with Cong Bai (Scallion White) and Hei Dou (Black Soybean) juice, dry, and apply fine powder of Huang Lian (Coptis Rhizome), Mu Xiang (Aucklandia Root), Mi Tuo Seng (Litharge), Gan Yan Zhi (Dry Rouge), etc. If internal ulceration prevents pus discharge, apply Zhui Nong San (Pus-Chasing Powder), then use Zi He's He Xie Shui Wan. If posterior orifice has little pus, apply Huang Lian, Mu Xiang, Yan Zhi, etc. A neighbor, age thirty, cunning and irritable, chronically suffered from Chancre, intermittent. Early summer, suffered white dysentery, slight chest stuffiness. Doctor gave Li Zhong Tang (Regulate the Middle Decoction) for four doses; he became comatose as if dead, revived after a moment. My pulse diagnosis showed both hands slippery, heavy pressure slightly wiry and rapid. I said: This is a deep and severe Chancre. A man near thirty had Chancre, sought treatment repeatedly but refused to diet. Suddenly one day, headache, fever, spontaneous sweating. Others treated as Taiyang Cold Damage Yang Syndrome, treatment worsened it. My pulse was very wiry, seven beats per breath, heavy pressure slippery. I said: This syndrome is in Jueyin, medicine does not match syndrome. Prepared Xiao Chai Hu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction), added Cao Long Dan (Gentian Root), Huang Lian (Coptis Rhizome), Hu Huang Lian (Coptis Rhizome - specific variety), served warm. Four doses, illness resolved completely.

Then gave Yu Zhu San (Jade Candle Powder), purging worsened it. I used Gan Cao Jie (Licorice Joint) and Xiao Jian Zhong Tang (Minor Construct the Middle Decoction) half-and-half decocted and taken. Zhou Shou Jiang Jiefu suffered previous symptoms, dripping pus/fluid, thirst, expectoration, chills before noon, fever after noon. I said: Chills before noon belong to Yang Qi Deficiency; fever after noon belongs to Yin Blood Deficiency. He did not believe, instead took Er Chen Tang (Two Aged Things Decoction), Huang Bo (Phellodendron Bark), Zhi Mu (Anemarrhena Rhizome), etc. Appetite decreased further, loose stools, evening heat/thirst, heavy sensation in lower abdomen, pain in lesion. Strictly used Si Wu Tang (Four Substances Decoction), Huang Bo (Phellodendron Bark), Zhi Mu (Anemarrhena Rhizome), etc., lost appetite. I diagnosed Spleen Qi Deficiency with sinking. First used Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) to regulate Spleen/Stomach and raise Yang Qi, symptoms gradually improved. Then used Liu Wei Wan (Six Flavor Pill) to nourish Kidney Water and generate Liver Blood for cure. A fifteen-year-old boy suffered previous symptoms, miscorrected with detoxifying medicines, presenting all deficiency signs for over two years; inquiry revealed congenital cause. Used Bi Xie Tang (Sedge Decoction) for over a month, symptoms gradually improved, then Bu Yin Ba Zhen (Tonify Yin Eight Treasures) and Bu Zhong Yi Qi (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi) two decotions for cure. A scholar had itching in shaft, fever, fatigue, external skin edema for two years. Used Ba Zhen (Eight Treasures) plus Chai Hu (Bupleurum Root), Shan Zhi (Gardenia Fruit), and Liu Wei Di Huang Wan (Six Flavor Rehmannia Pill) for cure; one with insect itching in pubic hair used crushed Tao Ren (Peach Seed) applied topically. Another scholar, penile rotting, continuous swelling/pain, severe evening fever, dry mouth, fatigue, poor appetite, nausea; this is Liver/Spleen Blood Deficiency. First used Liu Jun Zi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) plus Chai Hu (Bupleurum Root), Sheng Ma (Cimicifuga Rhizome); Spleen/Stomach awakened, symptoms receded. Then Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) plus fried Shan Zhi (Gardenia Fruit); Liver Fire retreated, swelling/pain cured.
