A child suffered pain in the foot after an injury, with no change in skin color, indicating bone injury. Frequent hot compresses with stir-fried scallions were applied; at dawn (Wugeng time), Hexue Dingtong Wan (Blood-Nourishing and Pain-Relieving Pill) was administered; during the day, formulas to strengthen the Spleen and Stomach and generate Qi and Blood were used. After several days, Dihuang Wan (Rehmannia Pill) was taken, and recovery occurred after more than three months.
Another child had a dislocated arm bone. After reduction, swelling, pain, and fever occurred. Administration of Liufqi-type medicines aggravated the condition, leading to poor appetite and lack of desire for food. Xue Ji treated him with scallion compresses, which stopped the pain immediately. He then prescribed Liu Jun Zi Tang (Six Gentlemen Decoction) augmented with Huangqi (Astragalus Root), Chaihu (Bupleurum Root), Jiegeng (Platycodon Root), Xu Duan (Dipsacus Root), and Gusuibu (Drynaria Rhizome). Appetite improved, and swelling and pain subsided. Subsequently, Buzhong Yiqi Tang (Tonify the Middle and Augment the Qi Decoction) plus Maidong (Ophiopogon Tuber) and Wuweizi (Schisandra Fruit) were used. As Qi and Blood harmonized, the fever receded, and the patient recovered.

Treatment involved Qingzao Tang (Clear Dryness Decoction), removing Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root), and Huangqi (Astragalus Root), and adding Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Shanzhi (Gardeniae Fructus), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), and Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex).
