All ingredients must be fresh and selected carefully. Quantity is flexible. First, grind Dahuang and Ganjiang into fine powder. Add the ground Badou paste to the powder and pound a thousand times. Alternatively, mix with refined honey to form pills the size of small beans. Take three pills with warm water or sour wine. If the patient does not regain consciousness, administer three more pills. Grind all six ingredients uniformly. Fill a clay crucible about one-third full. Seal cracks with red stone powder, then reinforce with Liuyi Ni (Six-One Mud). Ensure completely dry. Perform calcination on an auspicious day during the Hexie period. Make three mud pillars five cun high, stable like tripod legs, place under the crucible. His pulse was alternately large and small, short and long, indicating uneven Qi and Blood, with pathogenic factors injuring healthy Qi. He stated: While lodging at Handan Post Station, he dreamed of a woman in green clothes whose face was invisible. She punched his hypochondrium, causing persistent pain accompanied by alternating chills and fever and anorexia. This is Guiji (Ghost Strike). I said: You may take Badu Chi Wan. He replied: I read in Mingyi Lu that this medicine is the "Ghost-Slaying Staff." I gave him three pills to take before bed. In the morning, he passed two dou of clear water, and the effect was immediate. He further reported: Chen Qingyu's third son slept in the Shuixian Temple during the day, dreamed of receiving a cake which he ate. He became worried and anxious, developing epigastric fullness and reduced appetite. After over a year, he grew emaciated, with abdominal distension resembling Gu disease. Various medicines and shamans' prayers failed. He could not rest. I diagnosed him and asked for the history. Realizing the disease was neither external Wind-Cold nor internal injury from cold/raw food, I considered Li Ziyu's Badu Chi Wan appropriate. I administered five to seven pills. He vomited over a dou of green and yellow phlegm. His Qi gradually regulated. With other treatments, he recovered in months and regained robust health within two years. This record is preserved. This medicine is miraculous. It should be compounded in a clean room after fasting and bathing.
