[Actinidia chinensis (Kiwi Fruit)]

Chen Cangqi states: Taste: Salty. Nature: Warm. Toxicity: Non-toxic. Indications: Mainly treats bone-joint wind, paralysis and weakness, premature graying of hair, hemorrhoids caused by wild chicken meat, regulates the middle Jiao, and directs rebellious Qi downward. The peel can be used for papermaking; the juice from the vine is very slippery, promotes the passage of urinary calculi, and treats stomach closure. Taking the juice mixed with fresh ginger juice is beneficial. For dietary therapy, harvest when ripe, extract the pulp, mix with honey, and decoct; consumption brings a cooling sensation and stops Xiao Ke (wasting-thirst).
Yan Yi says: Actinidia chinensis is abundant in the southern mountains of Yongxing Army. Eating it resolves excess heat, but excessive consumption causes coldness in the viscera and diarrhea. It ripens fully in the tenth lunar month, appearing pale green; unripe fruits are extremely sour. Seeds are numerous and fine, resembling mustard seeds. Vines are tender, growing two to three zhang high, often climbing on trees. Survivors exist along paths in shallow mountains.
