In the records of Iron Paste in *Zhenglei Bencao*, Tao Hongjing considered "Iron Filings" (Tieluo, iron shavings) to be "Iron Paste" (Tiejiang, rust water), while Su Gong claimed otherwise. According to: Iron Paste is obtained by placing various iron objects in a vessel and soaking them in water for a long time until green foam appears on the surface. This liquid can be used to dye cloth black, and it also detoxifies various poisons that have entered the abdomen; taking it can also calm the Heart Spirit (Shen). It treats epilepsy with fever, acute jaundice (Jihuang, acute yellow disease) with manic running, and madness in livestock (Six Livestock). If bitten or stung by snakes, dogs, tigers, wild wolves, poisonous thorns, or harmful insects, taking it prevents the poison from entering the interior. (See Chen Cangqi.)
*Tu Jing Ben Cao* has detailed records under the entry for Iron.
*Waitai Miyao*: Treats knee sores. Wash the affected area with Iron Paste; healing occurs promptly, and frequent application yields excellent results. Mei Shi Fang: Treats seasonal epidemic diseases (Shiqi Bing), heat in the bones, sores, and chickenpox/smallpox (Wandou Chuang); drinking Iron Paste leads to recovery.
It treats sudden wind pathogens (Zefeng), stops abdominal pain caused by postpartum blood masses (Xuejia, blood stasis masses) and throat obstruction due to heat (Houbi). Heat the weight until red hot, immerse it in wine, and drink while hot. People at that time referred to Xuejia as "Child Pillow" (Erzhen), which arises immediately after childbirth with unbearable pain; if no weight is available, an axe may be used. (Added now)
Minister Yuxi and others respectfully cite Chen Cangqi: The weight tastes pungent, is warm in nature, and is non-toxic. Ri Hua Zi stated: Copper weights are neutral. They treat difficult labor, including transverse and malpositioned births. Quench in wine and take. Chen Cangqi stated: Iron pestles are non-toxic. They treat women with transverse delivery. If no pestle is available, use an axe; heat it red hot, immerse in wine, and drink, ensuring natural smooth delivery. A pestle is the tool used for pounding herbs. Furthermore: Old saws are non-toxic. They treat bamboo or wood splinters accidentally swallowed into the throat, causing obstruction. Heat red hot, soak in wine, and drink while hot. Ri Hua Zi stated: Keys treat women's blood stagnation with aphasia and fright (Xue Jin Shiyin Chong'e). Decoct with ginger, vinegar, and urine. Those with weak sexual vitality may also take the decoction.

*Taiping Shenghui Fang*: Treats abdominal pain from female blood masses. Use an ancient weight, large axe, or iron pestle; heat red hot with charcoal, place in about five sheng of wine, and drink slowly. *Waitai Miyao*: Treats sudden bleeding during pregnancy. Heat the weight red hot, place in wine, wait for boiling to subside, then drink. *Qianjin Fang*: Treats abdominal distension during pregnancy and postpartum bleeding. Heat red hot, immerse in wine, and take. *Chanbao*: Treats retained placenta. Heat iron pestles and iron coins red hot, immerse in wine, and drink.
