The Lung Qi communicates with the nose. Qi belongs to Yang, and all Yang Qi ascends to nourish the head and face. If the Qi is disharmonious and receives Wind-Cold, the pathogenic factors of Wind-Cold enter the brain, stagnate in the nasal cavity, causing the Qi mechanism to fail to circulate harmoniously, leading to accumulation and obstruction, thus resulting in nasal congestion (Bi Sai).
Hou Bi (Sore Throat with Obstruction) is caused by Wind-Toxic Qi lodging between the throat and pharynx, where it contends with Blood and Qi, forming swelling and blockage. This prevents the swallowing of porridge or congee, eventually leading to suppuration and bleeding. If the toxin enters the Heart, the Heart becomes vexed and distressed, unbearable in its suffering; such cases result in death.
Ma Bi (Horse Sore Throat) resembles Hou Bi. It is also caused by Wind-Heat Toxic Qi lodging between the throat, mandible, and cheeks, contending with Blood and Qi, leading to accumulation, swelling, and pain. The manifestation involves swelling from the submandibular region extending to the cheek, corresponding internally to painful swelling and blockage in the throat, preventing the intake of water and fluids. In severe cases, suppuration and ulceration occur. If the toxin attacks the Heart, it causes extreme mental restlessness and distress leading to death.
Teeth are the extremities of bones and are nourished by Marrow. Children with congenital insufficiency of Endowment Qi have Marrow that fails to sufficiently fill the dental bones, resulting in delayed tooth eruption.
The Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian and Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian both converge into the teeth. When Wind Qi enters these meridians and contends with Blood and Qi, the teeth become swollen and painful, discharging pus, a condition referred to as... [Text incomplete]
The Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian and Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian both converge into the teeth. In children, Wind Qi entering these meridians contends with Blood, creating Deficient-Heat in Blood and Qi, leading to bleeding from the tooth roots... [Text incomplete]
After birth, infants undergo Bian Zheng (periodic physiological changes) until they can speak; with the passage of days, their blood vessels and bone joints complete their formation. Once the patella forms, they gain the ability to walk. Bones are nourished by Marrow. If congenital Blood and Qi are insufficient, Marrow fails to be substantial and strong, so bones do not mature immediately, resulting in an inability to walk even after several years.
Children with congenital insufficiency of Blood and Qi have undernourished muscles, emaciated limbs, and exposed joints, resembling the jointed legs of a crane.
The Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian is the channel of the Kidney, and its Blood and Qi manifest luxuriance in the hair. If Blood and Qi are insufficient, they cannot moisten and luster the hair, resulting in yellowing.
The Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian is the channel of the Kidney, and its manifestations appear in the hair. Children with a congenital constitution characterized by insufficiency of Shaoyin Blood and Qi suffer from sparse, thin, or absent hair. Some cases involve baldness due to scalp sores; all such conditions arise from damage to Blood and Qi, where the depletion of Blood and Qi fails to nourish the hair.
