This refers to falling due to movement or dropping from a height, damaging the Bao Luo (uterine collateral vessels), causing bleeding that disturbs the fetus, and with blood injury leading to Qi rebellion, the fetal Qi follows the rebellious Qi upward to rush against the heart.
Regarding the prognosis of life and death: if the mother's tongue is cyanotic, the fetus is dead but the mother lives; if the lips and mouth have no foam, both live; if the lips are cyanotic and foam issues forth, both mother and fetus die; if the lips and mouth are cyanotic while the tongue is red, the mother dies but the fetus lives. If bleeding does not cease, the Bao Palace becomes dry and the fetus withers, resulting in fetal death.
This may occur due to fright and falling, or contracting warm epidemic diseases or Taiyang disease (exposure to cold pathogens affecting the exterior), where pathogenic toxins enter the Bao Zang (uterus), causing fetal death. The sign is coldness at the site of the fetus, indicating the fetus has died.
Abdominal pain is caused by Wind pathogen entering the Fu organs and Zang organs, clashing with Blood and Qi. During pregnancy, women may have pre-existing Cold masses (cold-type accumulations) or newly contract Wind pathogen, causing Qi stagnation and pain. If abdominal pain persists, pathogenic factors conflict with healthy Qi, disrupting Blood and Qi, thereby damaging the Bao Luo and causing fetal movement.
Heart pain is mostly caused by Wind pathogen and Phlegm-fluids attacking the meridians and collaterals of the Heart. Pathogenic Qi clashes with Healthy Qi, knotting together to cause pain. If the Zheng Jing (primary meridian) of the Heart is damaged, it is called Zhen Xin Tong (True Heart Pain). The Heart houses the Shen (Spirit) and commands all Zang organs, and should not be invaded by pathogens. If the primary meridian is injured, morning onset leads to evening death, and evening onset leads to morning death. If the Zhi Bie Luo (branch collaterals) of the Heart are injured, pain comes and goes intermittently with regular intervals. When pregnant women contract this illness, persistent pain allows Qi to ascend and attack the Bao Luo, damaging the Zi Zang (uterus), causing fetal movement. Whenever the fetus moves, its position shifts restlessly; if this restlessness disturbs the Blood, vaginal bleeding occurs.
Heart and abdominal pain during pregnancy may stem from pre-existing Cold masses in the abdomen or new exposure to Wind-Cold, triggered by deficiency of the Zang organs. Pathogenic and Healthy Qi clash and merge with Qi, moving up and down; rushing upward to the Heart causes heart pain, attacking downward to the abdomen causes abdominal pain, resulting in both. In pregnancy, pain results from the internal clash of Healthy and Pathogenic Qi. If not healed promptly, the pain impacts the Bao Luo, inevitably disturbing the fetus, and severely, causing miscarriage.
The Kidney governs the waist and legs. Injury from overwork damages the essence, making the meridians deficient, allowing Wind-Cold to invade, thus causing lower back pain. Women's Kidney meridians connect to the Bao Palace. Severe lower back pain during pregnancy often indicates impending miscarriage.
