When the five Zang organs are disharmonious, the Qi of the Sanjiao (Triple Burner) becomes full. When full, Qi wanders internally and cannot be diffused, resulting in symptoms of vexation, fullness, and empty distension.

The accumulation of Lung Qi resides in the right hypochondrium; the accumulation of Liver Qi resides in the left hypochondrium. Due to the disharmony of deficiency and excess in these two organs, Qi accumulates internally, causing a sensation of support and fullness in the chest and hypochondrium.

A deficient pulse in Spring causes chest pain radiating to the back, and downward, distension and fullness in both hypochondria. A slippery pulse at the Cun Kou (Radial Artery) indicates Yang Excess, manifesting as rebellious fullness in the chest.

Cold accumulating internally clashes with the Qi of the Zang organs, gathering under the hypochondrium. Cold attacks the Qi, causing it to rebel upward and rush into the chest and hypochondrium, thus causing rebellious Qi (Shang Qi) and a sensation of support and fullness in the chest and hypochondrium.

Yin Qi accumulating internally, if not resolved for a long time, generates Cold. This Cold Qi clashes with the organ Qi, rushing into the chest and hypochondrium, causing support and fullness.

In individuals of extreme deficiency, Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) Qi are depleted, and the Zang and Fu organs are weak. With insufficient Qi movement, breathing becomes short.

Riding horses or running causes vigorous disturbance of Qi. If Qi rebels within the chest and is not diffused, followed by drinking water, the water clashes with the Qi, resulting in rebellious Qi.

Consuming hot food stirs Lung Qi, causing heat to gather in the Lungs. If cold water is drunk before this heat subsides, the water enters the Lungs. The clash between cold and heat causes Qi to aggregate without diffusion, attacked by Cold, leading to the onset of rebellious Qi.

The condition known as "Qi Fen" (Qi Division/Segmentation) arises from fluid retention clashing with Qi, forming aggregates. Normally, Qi flows without obstruction. If stagnation occurs, fluid retention clashes with Qi, causing Qi to segment and remain stationary, hence termed "Qi Fen."

All cases of Hong Kong Foot disease (Jiaoxi / Foot Qi) are caused by contracting Wind-Toxin. Upon contracting this disease, one often does not immediately realize it; sometimes there were no prior illnesses, and it appeared suddenly; or it occurred after various other diseases. Initially, symptoms are subtle; diet, play, and strength remain normal, so careful observation is required.

Its manifestations include: numbness and insensitivity from the knees to the feet, or sensations resembling Bi syndrome (Obstruction), or itching like insects crawling, or chills in the toes and calves, or weakness and inability to walk due to flexion, or slight swelling, or extreme cold, or pain, or flaccidity and lack of control, or spasms and tightness; some may be fatigued but able to eat, others unable to eat, or vomiting upon seeing food, and aversion to food odors; or a sensation of an object like a finger arising from the intestines and rushing upward to strike the Heart, causing Qi rebellion; or generalized muscle twitching/spasms, or high fever and headache; or palpitations in the chest and head, unwillingness to see light while lying down; or severe abdominal pain accompanied by diarrhea; or confused speech and forgetfulness; or turbid vision and mental confusion. These are all signs of the disease. If treatment is delayed, the pathogen will enter the abdomen. Once in the abdomen, there may be swelling or none, along with chest and hypochondrial fullness. Rebellious Qi can be fatal. Acute cases may die within a day; chronic cases may take one to three days. Upon initial contraction, immediate treatment is necessary, unlike ordinary diseases.

Once the disease enters the Zang organs, there are three types of pulses. The internal and external signs are similar, differing only in the pulse. If the patient's pulse is floating, large, and slow, Xuming Tang (Cure-all Decoction) should be administered for two doses. If Wind is predominant, Yueshi Tang (Goose Puffer Decoction) with four liang of Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) should be used. If the pulse becomes rapid and tight, Zhuli Tang (Bamboo Juice Decoction) is appropriate. If the pulse is faint and weak, Fengyin Tang (Wind-Repelling Decoction) for two to three doses is suitable. These conditions mostly arise from deficiency. For severe deficiency with shortness of breath, tonifying decoctions can be administered intermittently, selected according to the cold or heat nature of the patient's constitution. If not cured, administer Zhuli Tang again.

If the patient's pulse is floating, large, tight, and rapid, this is the most ominous of the three pulse types. A pulse that is deep, fine, and rapid is equally ominous, similar to the floating, large, and tight pulse. A floating pulse indicates the disease is external; a deep, fine pulse indicates the disease is internal. The treatment principle remains the same, requiring careful judgment. Although the physical form may still appear acceptable and limbs not yet extremely weak, death from rebellious Qi may occur within a few days. For such pulses, urgently administer Zhuli Tang, one dose daily. Ensure the therapeutic effect is continuous; do not allow more than half a day without medication. It is best if Zhuli Tang induces bowel movement. Since this decoction contains much bamboo juice, it must be taken hot. If not hot, it will stagnate in the chest and diaphragm, causing further harm. If several doses have been taken but the disease and pulse momentum have not subsided, and distension occurs, Dabiejia Tang (Large Turtle Shell Decoction) can be used to purge. If the decoction is exhausted and defecation has not occurred, pill medicines can be used to assist. After purgation, resume Zhuli Tang to reduce the pulse momentum and regulate respiration.

In Jiangdong and Lingnan regions, where the land is low and damp, Wind-Dampness easily injures people. Initial contraction of this disease often progresses upward from below, so the feet become weak and flexed first, then the Toxin follows the meridians, gradually entering the Fu and Zang organs. Once the organs are invaded, Qi becomes asthmatic and full. Because the disease originates from the feet, it is named Hong Kong Foot (Foot Qi). Regarding herbal decoctions, moxibustion, acupuncture, and stone therapy, there are separate specific formulas. Methods for nourishment and Daoyin (guiding and pulling exercises) are attached below.

The *Yangsheng Fang* (Prescriptions for Nourishing Life) · *Daoyin Fa* (Exercise Method) states: Sit with both legs extended straight. Stretch the body, draw Qi downward, making the heart soft and comfortable. Then, flex one leg, place the knee down, extend the other leg long, and point the toes upward forcefully. Lie supine with the head not touching the mat. Push hands forward forcefully and pull the head upward. Perform each posture simultaneously, repeating fourteen times, alternating sides. This removes foot pain, coldness in the waist and shoulders, cold blood, and Wind-Bi, preventing gradual deterioration.

It also states: Prone position, look sideways, stand on both heels, extend the waist, inhale through the nose, reaching maximum capacity for seven breaths. This removes string-like pain, spasms, soreness, numbness, and weakness in the feet.

It also states: Sit with legs spread out. Disperse Qi toward Yongquan (KI1, Bubbling Spring). Repeat three times. Only retract when Qi penetrates fully. Flex the right foot and roll it up. Grasp the Yongquan point on the sole with both hands and pull backward. Step on the hand while pulling, taking the posture simultaneously. Apply force with hands and feet, sending Qi downward, repeating twenty-one times, ensuring Qi is not lost. Search for this sensation repeatedly. This removes internal Kidney Cold, knee coldness, and foot pain.

It also states: Flex one foot, pointing toes upward forcefully; place the other foot on the knee. Calm the mind, exhale Qi downward from both heel pads. Press one knee downward forcefully with one hand, press the mat backward with the other. Reach the extreme posture simultaneously, repeating fourteen times, alternating sides. This removes pain and urgency in the knees and thighs.

It also states: One foot flat on the ground, the other foot backward, placing the Jiexi (ST41, Solving Stream) point above. Push both hands backward forcefully, turning the side body as if rotating, reaching the extreme posture fourteen times, alternating sides. This removes foot pain, numbness, urgency, and lower back pain.
