Dan Yan Kou Feng (Single Swallow's Mouth, a type of oral ulcer) appears on one side of the corner of the mouth. The treatment method is the same as mentioned previously and requires no alteration. Do not mistakenly use needles or knives to puncture the lesion. Blowing Chi Lin San (Red Scale Powder) onto it yields miraculous results immediately.
This condition may occur on the left side or the right side. In some cases, swelling extends to the tongue, making eating impossible. In severe instances, the tongue may be pushed to one side. The treatment is identical to that for Shuang Yan Kou Feng (Double Swallow's Mouth).
Swelling and floating edema appear in the upper part of the oral cavity. This is caused by accumulated heat in the Heart and Spleen channels. If pus and blood flow from the seven orifices, even if Lu Yi (a legendary skilled physician) were encountered, cure might not be guaranteed.
This condition arises in the upper region of the hard palate near the center. There is severe redness and swelling, making swallowing difficult. Although the symptoms are serious, the condition is treatable. It is best to use Jiao Yao (Horn Medicine) for holding in the mouth to promote internal resolution. If resolution cannot be achieved and swelling extends directly to the gum line, a skin-breaking knife may be used to lightly incise and release blood. However, if the lesion is in the middle of the hard palate, which is where the seven orifices connect, one must absolutely avoid using a knife. It is appropriate to blow Bing Peng San (Ice and Borax Powder) and administer Zi Di Tang (Purple Earth Decoction). Puncture acupoints to open the wind pathway. If pus and blood discharge from any one of the mouth, ears, or nose, it indicates that the disease has persisted for a long time, with heat-toxin accumulating and causing perforation of the seven orifices. This is indeed an incurable condition.
Shu Fu Shi stated: Conditions such as Chong She Feng (Double Tongue Wind) are all caused by accumulated heat in the Heart and Spleen channels. If the illness persists and previous medications are ineffective, Zi Xue San (Purple Snow Powder) should be used, along with Huang Lian Jie Du Tang (Coptis Decoction to Relieve Toxicity), which will yield effective results.
Swelling accompanied by redness and heat on the surface of the tongue in the mouth is due to wind triggered by accumulated heat in the Heart and Spleen. Frequently administering Dan preparations (powders/pills), following proper methods, will surely produce miraculous results immediately.
In the early stages, the tongue becomes red and swollen, unable to move, gradually progressing to difficulty in eating and speaking. A skin-breaking knife can be used to prick the sides of the lingual frenulum where there are no tendons. (Do not prick tendons; injury will cause immediate death.) First, apply Jiao Yao mixed with a small amount of Mo Feng Gao (Wind-Massaging Ointment), blow Bing Peng San, and take Zi Di Tang. Spontaneous recovery will follow.
Chong She Feng (Double Tongue Wind) is also an inauspicious sign. It may appear on the left, right, or center. Experts have secret formulas revealing profound mysteries. Skillful use of needles and knives for cutting is acceptable.
Whenever an additional tongue-like swelling forms under the tongue, gradually becoming longer than the true tongue, rendering the true tongue immobile. Use Jiao Yao to resolve phlegm, blow Bing Peng San, and take Zi Di Tang. A skin-breaking knife may be used; one must first incise one side of the sublingual frenulum at the lower lateral edge. If ineffective, incise the other side.
Shu Fu Shi stated: Regardless of whether the patient is an adult or child, this condition is caused by heat stagnating in the Heart and Spleen, ascending along the channels to the root of the tongue, causing the blood vessels under the tongue to swell like a small tongue, hence the name Chong She. The method for using a knife is as follows: First, hold Jiao Yao mixed with Mo Feng Gao in the mouth for a long time and then spit it out. Then, puncture the swollen lesion. Immediately blowing Hui Sheng Dan (Revival Pill) or Zi Xue San will both yield efficacy.
