Chacha throat wind (Chacha Houfeng, fork-like throat obstruction) is the most perilous condition, often claiming life within three hours. If the patient can follow the correct treatment method, they will be guaranteed to recover and resume drinking and eating.
Whether male or female, the onset of this disease inside the throat is an extremely urgent condition. It begins with tightness in the throat, with wind-phlegm surging upward, often accompanied by copious sticky saliva. The interior feels tight while the exterior swells, making it difficult to eat and drink. Gradually, the throat becomes completely blocked, feeling as if choked by a fork. In severe cases, the head and face become swollen and enlarged; the pathology progresses with extreme speed and requires immediate treatment. If left untreated for one or two days, death is likely. Initially, Bingpeng San (Ice Borax Powder) should be used to open the orifices. Next, use the Fenglu needle (Wind-Path Needle) for puncture therapy three times. Take a small amount of Mofeng Gao (Wind-Rubbing Ointment) mixed with Jiaoyao (Horn Medicine) to hold in the mouth. Remove phlegm and saliva from the throat, and apply Jiaoyao to the swollen area on the outside of the neck. Administer Zizheng San (Purple Correcting Powder) combined with Kaiguan San (Gate-Opening Powder). If the pathological trend is extremely critical and the gate cannot be opened, it is incurable.
Note: Since this condition develops rapidly, Chilin San (Red Qilin Powder) should be blown into the affected area at the initial stage for more rapid efficacy.
This condition in the throat, if not treated properly, leads to yellowish ulcers and disaster. If frequent application of the correct methods yields no effect, death is inevitable (like waking from a golden millet dream).
Initially, lesions appear in the throat, presenting as red or yellow spots resembling millet grains. Over time, they cover the throat forming ulcers, or even spread throughout the mouth. They gradually turn purple-black, making swallowing impossible. Treatment involves first applying Jiaoyao (Horn Medicine), followed by puncture therapy with the Fenglu needle (Wind-Path Needle). Administer Zidi San (Purple Earth Powder) and blow Bingpeng San (Ice Borax Powder) into the throat for immediate effect. This is only treatable if it is a Wind-Heat Excess pattern. If this condition arises after internal injury involving coughing or hemoptysis, these medications must absolutely not be used, as doing so may result in fatal consequences.
Shufu Shi stated: Regarding Yan Chuang (Throat Ulcer), although it is said to be caused by the exhaustion of True Yin and the scorching ascent of Minister Fire to the throat, constituting a severe deficiency syndrome, the excess and deficiency, yin and yang patterns must still be differentiated for treatment. For excess patterns caused by Wind-Heat, there must be fever and aversion to cold, with red-yellow ulcers and a floating, rapid, and forceful right pulse. This occurs because the patient has historically consumed excessive fried and roasted foods, causing accumulation in the chest and diaphragm, and is now newly affected by Wind pathogenic factors. Treatment should involve throat-specific medicines, which will naturally yield results. For deficiency patterns, the appearance is white, dry, and unmoistened, with internal heat, thirst, reduced appetite, and pain that worsens upon swallowing saliva. This is due to the depletion of True Yin and deficiency damage. Internal injury manifests in two types: Qi deficiency leading to Yang deficiency, and Blood deficiency leading to Yin deficiency. In Yang deficiency, the pulses at both Cun positions are floating and rapid, worsening with exertion, accompanied by panting upon movement. This indicates Spleen and Lung Qi deficiency extending to Kidney Water. One must tonify the Middle Jiao to avoid errors. Modern physicians fail to recognize this and treat with cooling and phlegm-resolving agents, causing throat ulcers to develop suddenly into incurable conditions. In Yin deficiency, the pulses at both Chi positions are full and rapid but weak upon heavy pressure. External manifestations include internal heat, cough, expectoration, epistaxis, or decreasing appetite. This is due to Liver and Kidney Yin deficiency failing to nourish the Dragon and Thunder True Fire. When Yin is deficient, Fire flares up; when Fire flares, Water dries up; when Water dries, Kidney Essence withers. Withered Kidney Essence causes Minister Fire to surge and float upward, resulting in symptoms such as throat bi, throat ulcers, phlegm nodules, irritability, and hoarseness. This is commonly known as "Fire Burning the Stove Door." At this time, using Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill) to replenish water cannot quickly generate True Water. Using Shengmai San (Generate Pulse Powder) to protect the lungs cannot cure chronic inflammation with just Ginseng and Ophiopogon. Using Bawei Wan (Eight-Ingredient Pill) to descend fire is unsuitable for the throat region due to the harsh nature of Cinnamon and Aconite. Using Zishui Wan (Nourishing Water Pill) to harmonize Water and Fire fails because Water and Fire cannot interact. Only by urgently administering Ganlu Yin (Sweet Dew Decoction) can Water and Fire return to their proper places, dredging the source to stabilize the flow, guiding the Dragon back to the sea, and allowing the Five Elements to regenerate each other. Subsequently, based on pulse and complexion observation, differentiate and treat. Supplement with Bawei Wan (Eight-Ingredient Pill), Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Rehmannia Pill), Guipi Tang (Restore the Spleen Decoction), or Rongyang Tang (Nourish the Younger Decoction). This will naturally achieve miraculous effects, earning the name "Spiritual Elixir." However, patients must seek early treatment. Do not wait until the disease enters the marrow and muscle layers; even divine elixirs will then be of no avail.
