The *Huangdi Neijing* (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon) states: "Carbuncles (Yong, 痈) arise from the six fu organs, and deep abscesses (Ju, 疽) emerge from the five zang organs." These conditions are all formed by the mutual stagnation of Yin and Yang. Qi belongs to Yang, and Blood belongs to Yin. Blood circulates within the vessels, while Qi circulates outside the vessels. They accompany each other and flow throughout the body. If constrained by Cold-Dampness, they coagulate and move slowly, which is termed "insufficiency" (Bu Ji, 不及). If constrained by Fire-Heat, they boil and move rapidly, which is termed "excess" (Tai Guo, 太过). When Qi stagnates and pathogens enter the Blood, it is called "Yang stagnating in Yin"; when Blood stagnates and pathogens enter the Qi, it is called "Yin stagnating in Yang." This leads to the generation of various malignant toxins. However, all diseases originate from this mechanism.

For those with continuous headache, it belongs to external contraction, and dispersing methods should be used. For those with intermittent headache, it belongs to internal injury, and deficiency should be tonified. Regarding unilateral headache, (one must carefully distinguish whether it is Bian Tou Feng, 偏头风). Left-sided headache often relates to Wind and Blood deficiency; right-sided headache often relates to Phlegm-Heat and Qi deficiency.

A bluish complexion indicates the disease involves the Liver; blood-dispersing methods are suitable. A yellowish complexion indicates Spleen stagnation; digestive-dissolving methods are suitable. A reddish complexion indicates the disease involves the Heart; blood-dispersing and fire-clearing methods are suitable. A whitish complexion indicates the disease involves the Lung; Qi-smoothing methods are suitable. A blackish complexion indicates Kidney deficiency; nourishing and tonifying methods are appropriate. The discussion of the Five Colors above refers to the post-recovery regulation of various Wind syndromes, serving to identify how to regulate the respective meridians.

When Wind generates internally in the throat, do not delay. Chest Qi urgency signals impending danger. If accompanied by stabbing pain in the heart and hypochondrium, separation from wife, children, relatives, and friends is certain. Constipation and difficult urination appear. The patient's soul seems to fly away. This is the true secret of physicians, informing you of life and death in advance.

When the patient's eyes are fixed open and mouth agape, Qi escapes without return, and hands hang limp. Upon seeing this form, one should quickly retire from treatment, abandoning greed for fame and wealth, and dispelling doubt.

If lips evert or the mouth resembles a fish's mouth, and acupuncture is mistakenly applied, death on the Yellow Springs (Huang Quan, 黄泉) will occur soon, which is truly sorrowful. This syndrome is also named an Evil Syndrome (E Zheng, 恶症); even Lu Yi (Lu Bi, 卢医 - referring to Bian Que) would find it difficult to treat.

For all syndromes belonging to Hou Feng (Throat Wind, 喉风), there must initially be aversion to cold and fever. In severe cases, there is constipation, scanty dark urine, headache, restlessness, and thirst. Contemporary physicians fail to recognize this and recklessly administer herbs like Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix, 羌活). They do not know that Qiang Huo is a herb that disperses Cold pathogens and releases the exterior through the muscle layer, which is not suitable for throat treatments. Therefore, the Zi Zheng Di Huang San (Purple Correct Rehmannia Powder, 紫正地黄散) prescribed in this book specifically treats all kinds of Wind syndromes with miraculous efficacy. It is indeed a wonderful secret formula.
