(For the song and explanation, see *Changsha Fang Ge Ku*.) It treats **Hui Jue** (Ascaris syncope). The patient should vomit ascarids. Now, the patient is quiet but occasionally experiences vexation. This is due to cold in the zang organs. The ascarids move upward into the diaphragm, causing vexation. After a moment, it stops again. Upon eating, vomiting occurs, and vexation returns because the ascarids emerge upon smelling the food odor. The patient should spontaneously vomit ascarids. **Hui Jue** is primarily treated with this pill.
**Wumei** (Mume Fructus), **Xixin** (Asarum Herba), **Ganjiang** (Zingiberis Rhizoma), **Huanglian** (Coptidis Rhizoma), **Danggui** (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), **Chuanjiao** (Sichuan Pepper), **Fuzi** (Aconiti Lateralis Radix Praeparata), **Guizhi** (Cinnamomi Ramulus), **Renshen** (Ginseng Radix), **Huangbai** (Phellodendri Cortex).
Xu Zhongke said: The bitterness of **Huanglian** can calm the ascarids. Then why can the previously mentioned **Gancao** (Licorice Root) and honey also calm the ascarids? One does not realize that in the previous clause, the ascarids moved upward due to dryness, leading to the migration of ascarids.
(The song is found in *Changsha Fang Ge Ku*.) It treats women who present with a peaceful pulse, where the yin pulse is small and weak. The patient feels thirsty but cannot eat, without aversion to cold or fever. This is named pregnancy. This formula is indicated. According to the method, around sixty days of pregnancy, these symptoms should appear. If there are erroneous treatments, and by one month later, vomiting and diarrhea worsen, then the condition becomes critical/severed.
**Guizhi** (Cinnamomi Ramulus), **Shaoyao** (Paeoniae Radix Alba), **Gancao** (Licorice Root), **Shengjiang** (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), **Dazao** (Jujubae Fructus).
Xu Zhongke said: For exterior syndromes, **Guizhi Tang** (Cinnamon Twig Decoction) resolves the muscle layer and harmonizes **Ying** (Nutrient Qi) and **Wei** (Defensive Qi). For interior syndromes, it transforms qi and regulates **Yin** and **Yang**. Contemporary physicians forbid its use because they believe **Shengjiang** and **Guizhi** harm the fetus, thereby perpetuating the error.
It treats women who have had chronic **Zheng Bing** (mass disease) prior to conception. Menstruation has stopped for less than three months, yet there is continuous spotting. Fetal movement felt above the umbilicus indicates that the **Zheng Bing** is harmful. If fetal movement occurs at six months of pregnancy, it implies conception occurred when menstruation was regular during the first three months. Bleeding after stopping menstruation for three months suggests the bleeding is pathological. The reason the bleeding does not stop is that the **Zheng Bing** remains. One should eliminate the **Zheng Bing**, and this formula is indicated.
**Guizhi** (Cinnamomi Ramulus), **Fuling** (Poria), **Danpi** (Moutan Cortex), **Taoren** (Persicae Semen [skin and tips removed, roasted]), **Shaoyao** (Paeoniae Radix Alba) [equal parts].
The above five herbs are powdered. Honey is refined to make pills the size of rabbit droppings. Take one pill before meals daily. If ineffective, increase to three pills.
The song states: "If the mass is not removed, it may harm the fetus." (Fetal movement below the umbilicus suggests impending miscarriage; movement above the umbilicus is caused by monthly accumulated blood being obstructed by the qi of the mass.)
Disciple Lin Lifeng notes: The Master said, "Women having chronic **Zheng Bing**" refers to the presence of stagnant blood and mass formation prior to conception. "Menstruation stopped" refers to the cessation of menses... If the mass is not removed, it will inevitably harm the fetus. Removing the mass is the way to secure the fetus. Therefore, it is stated that one must purge the mass. Using **Guiling Wan** (Cinnamon Pilla Pill) takes advantage of **Guizhi** to unblock Liver Yang, **Shaoyao** to nourish Liver Yin, **Fuling** to tonify Heart Qi, and **Danpi** to circulate Heart Blood. The brilliance lies in **Taoren** supervising between them, leading the various herbs directly to the mass to attack it. This allows the stasis to be removed while new blood remains undamaged. Once the stasis is gone, new blood can naturally nourish the fetus. Although it does not specifically focus on securing the fetus, this is precisely how the fetus is secured.
