Indicated for women during pregnancy. It is suitable for regular consumption.
Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) [each one jin], Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) [half a jin].
The above five herbs are pounded into a powder. Take one fangcunbi (a square-inch measure) with wine. Administer twice daily. Regular consumption during pregnancy facilitates delivery and ensures the fetus remains free from illness and distress. It also treats various diseases occurring postpartum.
The rhyme states: (For formulas regularly consumed during pregnancy, the primary focus should be on tonifying Spleen Yin.) All things originally grow from Earth. Earth containing moisture generates life continuously. (Endlessly.)

The rationale of the formula is detailed in the rhyme. No further explanation is provided.
Formula for nourishing the fetus during pregnancy.
Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Shujiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium) [each three fen, remove sweat/volatile oils], Muli (Concha Ostreae).
The above four herbs are pounded into a powder. Take one qianbi (a coin-sized measure) with wine. Administer three times daily. Administer once at night. If only pain is present, add Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix). If there is severe pain in the epigastrium, double the amount of Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma).
Heart
Jiang (Ginger juice)
The rhyme states: The fetus is carried by Earth, which is the merit of Baizhu. Nourishing blood assists mutually, a subtle efficacy... (Earth carries it. Blood nourishes it.) Yin Qi ascends to oppress, while Jiaohua (Zanthoxylum) controls descent.

Annotation. (
In old editions, the three herbs are each three fen, and Muli (Concha Ostreae) is missing. Xu Lingtai stated. Originally, there were no dosages. According to the note under the formula. For those taking it three times daily and once at night.

Modification Rhyme: Adding Shaoyao is best for pain. Relying on Chuanxiong for severe epigastric pain. Vomiting, pain, anorexia, and irritability. Add Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) twenty pieces and Yixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) one portion. Vinegar
Jiangshui (Ginger water)
Regular consumption should not be slighted.
These herbs are for regular consumption. This interpretation is also profound.)
The rationale of the formula is already detailed in the rhyme. No further explanation is provided.
(Seen in vomiting.) When a parturient woman suffers from Yu Mao (Depression and Vertigo), her pulse is faint, she vomits and cannot eat, her stool is conversely hard, and only her head sweats. The reason for this is that Blood deficiency leads to Jue Ni (Cold Reversal); Jue Ni inevitably leads to Mao (Vertigo/Dizziness). For a patient with Mao to resolve, they must sweat profusely from the whole body. Because Blood deficiency causes lower Jue Ni, and solitary Yang emerges upward, only the head sweats. Therefore, parturient women welcome sweating because loss of Yin Blood leads to Blood deficiency, causing Yang to stand alone and flourish; thus, sweating should occur so that Yin and Yang can restore balance. For hard stool, vomiting, and inability to eat, Xiaochaihu Tang (Minor Bupleurum Decoction) is indicated.
Grandson Chen Xinlan annotated: A faint pulse in a parturient woman indicates Blood deficiency. Blood deficiency means Yin cannot anchor Yang, resulting in solitary Yang. When Yang travels alone upward, head sweating occurs.
