Zhi Shi (Radix Aurantii Fructus, 16 pieces). Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Alba, 6 fen). Jiegeng (Radix Platycodonis, 2 fen).
The above three herbs. Pound into a powder. Take one egg yolk. Mix the herb powder with an equal amount of egg yolk. Knead and mix until uniform. Take with warm water. Once daily.
Song says: The efficacy of Painong San originates from the Spirit Platform. (The *Neijing* refers to the place where the ancient masters swore blood oaths as the Spirit Platform.) Zhi Shi is the sovereign herb, 16 pieces. Shaoyao 6 fen, Jiegeng 2 fen. One egg yolk simplifies and encompasses the formula.
Yu Xi's commentary: Zhi Shi and Jiegeng move Qi stagnation; Shaoyao unblocks Blood stagnation. Expelling pus through Qi and Blood is what people easily understand. The subtlety lies in kneading in one egg yolk, taking a substance with emotional affinity to nourish the Yin of the Heart and Spleen, thus making the method of expelling pus attain its root.
Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, 2 liang). Jiegeng (Radix Platycodonis, 3 liang). Shengjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens, 1 liang). Dazao (Fructus Jujubae, 10 pieces).
The above four herbs. Add three sheng of water. Boil to obtain one sheng. Take five he of warm decoction. Twice daily.
Song says: Painong Tang differs greatly from Painong San. One liang of Shengjiang and two liang of Gancao are both present. Ten pieces of Dazao and three liang of Jiegeng. Unblocking Ying and Wei is a good plan.
Yu Xi's commentary: In the formula, the pungency of Jiegeng and Shengjiang is taken, and the sweetness of Dazao and Gancao is also taken. Pungent and sweet disperse to generate Yang, allowing toxins to transform and exit via Yang. This is the wonder of expelling pus.
(This formula is not recorded.) Treats Jin Yin Chuang (a type of skin ulcer with erosion and exudate). If it starts from the mouth and flows to the limbs, it is treatable. If it starts from the limbs and flows into the mouth, it is untreatable. For Jin Yin Chuang, this Huanglian powder governs it.
Song says: The powder for Jin Yin Chuang uses Huanglian. Flowing from mouth to limbs follows nature. If starting from limbs and flowing into the mouth, half-raw half-cooked often suffers from toxin entanglement.
Yu Xi's commentary: Jin Yin Chuang is an infectious disease. Starting from the mouth and flowing to the limbs means toxins are exiting outward. Thus, it is said to be treatable. Starting from the limbs and flowing into the mouth...
(This formula is not recorded.) Treats patients who frequently have swelling and twitching of fingers and arms, and whose bodies... This Lili Ganc Tang governs it.
Song says: Body... arm swelling is treated with Lili. Epileptic bi-syndrome and wind-phlegm can all be driven out. Lili has ascending properties, Gancao has moderating properties. The symptoms are detailed in Die Jue, searched everywhere without finding [a match].
Male Yu Xi's commentary: Phlegm-saliva is generated by dampness, lingering between the chest and diaphragm, eventually transforming unpredictably. Saying that patients frequently have swelling and twitching of fingers and arms and bodies... is because Qi is blocked by phlegm, dampness has no outlet, or evil wind is added. Wind moves, so Qi moves with it, stirring up accumulated phlegm-toxin qi. This is why various movements occur simultaneously.
