Heqile (Ten seeds).
Grind the above single herb into a powder. Mix with rice gruel and take in one dose.
Song says: Heqile San astringes the intestines to stop diarrhea. To treat Qi Li (diarrhea accompanied by flatus), it is necessary to secure the Post-Heaven root. Ten Heqile fruits are roasted, ground into powder, mixed with rice drink, and no need for decoction.
Nan Yuanxi notes: Qi Li refers to the downward collapse of Lung Qi, with both stomach and intestines deficient. Qi sinks causing stool to pass out with gas. It is urgent to use Heqile to astringe the intestines and bowels to secure against collapse. Also use
rice gruel
(see above). Treats constipation, frequent hiccups, and delirious speech.
Treats dry vomiting accompanied by diarrhea.
Huangqin (3 liang each), Renshen (3 liang each), Ganjiang (3 liang each), Guizhi (1 liang), Dazao (12 pieces), Banxia (0.5 sheng).
The above six herbs. Add seven sheng of water, boil to obtain three sheng. Take warm, divided into three doses.
Song says: Dry vomiting and diarrhea are attributed to the Two Yang meridians. (Transmission occurs sequentially from Taiyang to Yangming.) Renshen and Huangqin are 3 liang each, equal to Ganjiang. Guizhi is 1 liang, Banxia is half a sheng, Dazao is twelve pieces.
Nan Yuanxi notes: This is a modified formula of Xiaochaihu Tang. In the formula, Guizhi replaces Chaihu, Ganjiang replaces Shengjiang, and Gancao is removed. This is for Taiyang disease without distinguishing Yin and Yang

Treats intestinal abscess. The patient's body skin is rough like armor scales (Jiacuo). The abdominal wall is tense, but feels soft upon pressure as if swollen. There are no accumulations in the abdomen, and the body has no fever.
There is pus within the intestines. This San (powder) treats it.
Yiyiren (10 parts), Fuzi (2 parts), Baijiangcao (5 parts).
The above three herbs. Pound into a powder. Take one Fangcunbi (a square-inch measure) of the powder. Add two sheng of water, boil until reduced by half. Take in one dose. Small amounts of feces/pus should be passed soon.
Song says: Qi and blood stagnation internally, abscess obstructing the external skin. (Qi and blood are depleted by the internal abscess and fail to nourish the exterior; thus the body skin is rough, resembling interlacing scales.) Although the abdominal skin is tense, it feels soft upon pressure. Fuzi should be 2 parts, Yiyiren 10 parts, and Baijiangcao 5 parts to drive it out.
Wang Jinsan said: If Heart Qi is depressed and not free-flowing, Qi knots at the head of the Small Intestine, blocking the pathway of transmission and forming an abscess. This is what the Neijing refers to as the organs failing to accommodate [pathogens].
Using Fuzi, one opens the knot of the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine meridian, and one transforms the Qi of the Foot-Taiyang Bladder meridian. One must ensure that the transformed toxins exit through the water passages. The profound essence of this cannot be speculated upon by mediocre and shallow individuals.
