(Gu Zhang / Grain Distension)
Irregular diet leads to stagnation in the Middle Jiao. Symptoms include acid regurgitation, belching, aversion to food odors, and worsening after eating. The Classics state: "Irregular diet and improper living habits affect the Yin meridians. When Yin meridians are affected, pathogens enter the Five Zang organs. Entering the Zang organs results in abdominal fullness and obstruction." In such cases, it is appropriate to use resolving methods to eliminate stagnation; if severe, purgative methods should be used. This aligns with the principle: "For fullness in the center, drain from within."
