After moxibustion has been performed, the ancients forbade the consumption of pork, fish, hot noodles, raw wine, wind-activating foods, and cold items. Chicken meat is considered most toxic; however, in modern times, if a patient's moxa sore does not suppurate after moxibustion, eating small chickens or silver carp can induce suppuration. This is known as "using toxicity to attack toxicity." The rationale is feasible, but it is advisable to use it sparingly.
After moxibustion, one must strictly avoid wind and cold, moderate alcohol intake, and abstain from sexual activity. One must eliminate the seven emotions: joy, anger, worry, thought, sadness, fear, and fright. It is beneficial to reside in a quiet place for recuperation, though this need not be explained to gentlemen and wise men.

Cui’s method for treating Guzheng Laozai (Bone-steaming Tuberculosis/Consumption): If a person has just contracted this disease, applying moxibustion according to this method will invariably be effective. However, many physicians fail to locate the true acupoints, leading to errors. Herein is presented the authentic measurement technique so that students may understand clearly without error. Is this not the heart of saving lives? Tingrui respectfully records.
First, take a thin string, approximately three or four chi long, treat it with wax to prevent stretching or shrinking. Measure it against the patient's sole, touching the skin. For males, measure the left foot; for females, the right foot. Cut the string at the major transverse crease of the sole. Next, have the patient untie their hair, parting it to both sides to expose the midline suture of the scalp. From the fontanelle (Xinhui, GV20), divide equally towards the back of the head. Have the patient sit upright. Take the cut string, align one end with the tip of the nose, pull it upwards along the midline suture to the back of the head, let it hang down against the skin, and follow the spine downwards until the end of the string. Mark this point on the spine with ink. (This ink mark is not an acupoint).
Separately, take a stalk of rice straw. Have the patient close their mouth and place the straw horizontally across the lips, reaching the corners of the mouth. Bend the center of the straw upwards to the root of the nose, forming a shape resembling the character "人" (Ren). Cut the straw at the corners of the mouth. Straighten the straw. At the previously marked point on the spine, measure horizontally across the middle of the straightened straw. Ensure it is level. Mark the two ends of the straw with ink. These are the moxibustion points, named Huanmen (Patient's Gate) Two Points. Initially moxa seven Zhu (cones), accumulating up to one hundred Zhu is excellent. Initially, only moxa these two points.
Next, have the patient sit upright, slightly retracting the arms. Take a rope, wrap it around the neck forward, level with the Adam's apple (Jieshou bone), then level with the Dazhu bone (BL11). Mark both points. Let the rope hang down bilaterally to the level of Jiawei (CV15). Cut the rope. Moxa Jiawei (CV15). Then flip the rope backwards. Place the original knot-marked point (from the throat) onto the Dazhu mark, and the Dazhu mark onto the throat knot. Where the two ends of the rope meet at the midline of the spine, mark with ink. (This is also not an acupoint).
Take another piece of rice straw. Have the patient close their mouth without smiling or moving. Measure horizontally across the corners of the mouth. Cut the straw. Return to the ink marks on the back. Fold the straw in half and measure horizontally across the two ink marks. Point these locations with ink. These are the moxibustion points. Then measure vertically along the spine, marking above and below. These are the moxibustion points, named Sihua (Four Flowers) Points. Initially moxa seven Zhu, accumulating up to one hundred Zhu until the sore heals. If the disease persists, repeat the previous method. Hence it is said: accumulate moxa up to one hundred Zhu. However, for the two points on the spine, moxa sparingly. Each session should only involve three to five Zhu; excessive moxa may cause the back to curl. When moxa these six points, it is also advisable to moxa Zusanli (ST36) to drain fire qi, which is excellent.
For women with bound feet, only moxa Gaohuang (BL43); its location is detailed later. Moxa Sihua points is also effective. I have seen people who initially suffered from this disease and were treated according to this method, with no failure. Even if the disease root is deep-seated, treating according to this method can lead to recovery, let alone early-stage disease. A diagram is provided here.
