The secret of the Tianxing (Heavenly Star) acupoints is known by few. This method specifically distinguishes the application order between anterior and posterior points. If there is retained food in the stomach, first locate Zusanli (ST36), then select Xuanji (CV15). For spleen diseases involving blood and qi, first needle Hegu (LI4), then Sanjinyiao (SP6) without delay; if afflicted by "ghost evil" (sudden mental aberration or acute crisis), first needle Jianshi (PC5); for arm contracture and numbness, select Jianyu (LI15). If the legs suffer from muscle twitching accompanied by blurred vision, first needle Chengshan (BL57), then Taixi (KI3) near the medial malleolus; for lower limb swelling and pain (podagra/leg swelling), first select Jianjing (GB21), then seek Zusanli (ST36) and Yanglingquan (GB34); if small intestine pain radiates to the umbilicus, first needle Yinlingquan (SP9), then Yongquan (KI1). For tinnitus and lumbar pain, first select Wuhui (Head points, often referring to Touwei ST8 or similar head points in this context), then Ermen (TE21) and Zusanli (ST36). For abdominal hernia pain, first needle Changqiang (GV1), then Dadun (LR1) without panic; for foot weakness and difficulty walking, first select Guanshu (EX-LE5/Xuanshong), then Tiaokou (ST38) and Chongyang (ST42). For toothache, headache, and sore throat, first needle Erjian (LI2), then Zusanli (ST36); for chest and diaphragm fullness and distension, first needle Yinjiao (CV13); needling Chengshan (BL57) improves appetite; for abdominal edema and massive distension, first needle Shuifen (CV9), and drain Jianli (CV11). For cold damage that has passed its meridian stage yet lacks sweating, consider Qimen (LR14) and Tongli (HT5) in sequence; for cold malaria with facial swelling and borborygmus, first select Hegu (LI4), then Neiting (ST44). Where to needle for cold wind-damp bi syndrome? First select Huantiao (GB30), then Yanglingquan (GB34); for finger pain and contracture, Shaoshang (LU11) is effective. Applying this method ensures efficacy. These are the true mantras of Master Sang (Ma Danyang's lineage from Changsang Jun); contemporary physicians must not treat them lightly.
Zusanli (ST36) and Neiting (ST44), Quchi (LI11) and Hegu (LI4) connect; Weizhong (BL40) pairs with Chengshan (BL57); Taichong (LR3) and Kunlun (BL60); Huantiao (GB30) and Yanglingquan (GB34); Tongli (HT5) stands with Lieque (LU7). When tonification is required, apply tonification; when sedation is required, apply sedation. Among 360 acupoints, these twelve mantras suffice. Treating disease is like a spirit, as effective as hot soup poured on snow. The Big Dipper reveals the true mechanism; the golden lock teaches thorough opening. Only those of supreme virtue can transmit this; do not speak it rashly to the unworthy.
First: Zusanli is located below the knee, three cun between the two tendons. It unblocks heart and abdominal fullness, effectively treats cold in the stomach, intestinal murmurs and diarrhea, leg swelling and knee soreness, emaciation due to cold damage, Qi distension, and various ailments. After age thirty, acupuncture for eye conditions brings relief. Verify the point location carefully; needle eight fen, moxa three cones for safety.
Second: Neiting is on the lateral side of the second toe, belonging to the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian. It treats cold extremities, preference for quietness and aversion to sound, urticaria, sore throat, frequent yawning, and toothache. It treats malaria with anorexia; after needling, the patient becomes clear and comfortable. Needle three fen, moxa three cones.
Third: Quchi is obtained by bending the arm, sought at the edge of the elbow bone. It effectively treats elbow pain, hemiplegia with inability to retract the hand, inability to draw a bow, flaccid sinews preventing hair combing, critical throat closure with suffocation, persistent fever, and widespread skin sores and leprosy-like lesions; needling brings immediate cure (needle five fen, moxa three cones).
Fourth: Hegu is in the tiger's mouth, between the divergent bones of the thumb and index finger. It treats headache and facial swelling, malaria with alternating chills and fever, dental caries and epistaxis, and trismus preventing speech. Insert the needle five fen deep, bringing immediate peace (moxa three cones).
Fifth: Weizhong is at the center of the popliteal crease. It treats lumbar pain preventing rising, heaviness pulling on the spine, soreness with stiff sinews, recurrent wind-bi, and knee stiffness; needling brings health immediately (needle five fen, moxibustion prohibited).
Sixth: Chengshan, named Fish Belly, is located between the bellies of the gastrocnemius muscles. It effectively treats lumbar pain, hemorrhoids with difficult defecation, lower limb swelling and knee enlargement, restlessness with trembling and soreness, cholera with convulsions; needling brings immediate relief (needle seven fen, moxa five cones).
Seventh: Taichong is behind the big toe, two cun posterior to the metatarsophalangeal joint. Pulse palpation here indicates life and death; it treats epilepsy and wind-stroke, sore throat and cardiac distension, inability to walk on both feet, seven types of hernias with unilateral swelling, cloudy vision, and lumbar pain; needling demonstrates divine efficacy (needle three fen, moxa three cones).
Eighth: Kunlun is found above the calcaneus at the lateral malleolus. It treats convulsions, lumbosacral pain, sudden asthma with chest oppression, inability to walk, and pain upon movement; for peace, one must needle this point (needle five fen, moxa three cones).
Ninth: Huantiao is at the hip joint (greater trochanter region); take the position lying on the side with the leg flexed. It treats inability to look back due to waist injury, cold wind and damp-bi, pain radiating from the thigh to the buttock, and difficulty turning with sighing; after acupuncture, the illness vanishes instantly (needle two cun, moxa five cones).
Tenth: Yanglingquan is located below the knee, one cun lateral to the knee depression. It treats knee swelling and numbness, cold-bi and hemiplegia, inability to lift the foot, and a seated posture resembling a frail old man; insert the needle six fen deep; its divine function is unique (moxa three cones).
Eleventh: Tongli is on the posterior aspect of the wrist, one cun from the wrist crease. It treats aphonia (inability to speak despite desire to), restlessness and palpitations; excess patterns present with heavy limbs and redness of the head, cheeks, and face; deficiency patterns present with anorexia and sudden loss of voice with pale complexion; gently insert the filiform needle, believing in its divine efficacy (needle three fen, moxa three cones).
Twelfth: Lieque is on the radial side of the wrist, indicated where the index fingers cross when hands are interlaced. It effectively treats migraines, generalized wind-bi numbness, frequent phlegm obstruction in the upper jiao, and trismus; if one understands tonification and sedation techniques, the effect is immediate as if grasping the disease (needle three fen, moxa five cones).
