Forehead, Yintang (Yin Tang), Shangen (Shan Gen)
Redness, excessive heat, and dryness on the forehead indicate heat; bluish color indicates Liver Wind. If bluish color appears at Yintang, it suggests fright with fire flaring up causing redness. Faint bluish color at Shangen indicates a dual condition of fright and pathogenic factors. If redness is present in these areas, it signifies an attack between draining fire and dryness.
Nianshou (Nasal Bridge)
Slight yellow on Nianshou is the normal complexion. If flat and depressed, it indicates premature death. Blackness due to acute dysentery is a critical sign. Deep yellow in cholera with vomiting and diarrhea also indicates severe illness.
Bizhun (Nasal Tip), Renzhong (Ren Zhong)
Slight yellow, red, or white on Bizhun is normal. Deep yellow, dryness, or blackness indicates fatal prognosis. Shortening of Renzhong with vomiting due to dysentery, and inverted lips with blackness indicate that roundworms will cause collapse (death).
Zhengkou (Center of Mouth/Lips)
Constant redness of Zhengkou is considered normal. Dryness indicates Spleen Heat and accumulation leading to yellowness. Whiteness indicates blood loss. Blackness surrounding the mouth, and bluish-blackness indicate fatal convulsions (Jing Feng).
Chengjiang (Cheng Jiang), Eyebrows
Bluish color at Chengjiang indicates fright during eating. Yellowness mostly indicates vomiting and regurgitation; dysentery presents with redness. Restlessness and night crying with bluish color are auspicious. Redness of eyebrows in chronic illness is a true sign of death.
Eyes
Redness of Baijing (White of the Eye) indicates Liver Wind. Yellowness indicates accumulation attacking internally. Appearance of yellow on Heijing (around the Pupil) traces the symptoms of Shanghan (Cold Damage).
Fengchi (Feng Chi), Qichi (Qi Chi), Liangyi (Both Cheeks/Jawline)
Yellowness in Fengchi and Qichi indicates vomiting and regurgitation. Restlessness, crying, and bright red color indicate excess heat. Redness resembling a bump on Liangyi indicates guest-heat in the Lung, which is not empty talk.
Liangtaiyang (Both Temples)
Bluish color at Taiyang marks the beginning of fright wind. Redness indicates the budding of damp-heat or strangury. To know what a fatal case looks like: if bluish color spreads from here into the ear, it is a sign of death.
Lianglian (Both Cheeks)
Yellowness on both cheeks indicates phlegm-solidity obstructing the throat. Bluish color indicates Ke Wu (external pathogenic invasion). Redness indicates wind-heat. Redness in Shanghan indicates strangury. Please distinguish carefully by the two cheeks.
Liangyi Jinkui (Jin Kui area on Cheeks), Fengmen (Feng Men)
Vomiting worms with bluish color; drooling (Zhi Yi) with yellowish color—these can be distinguished by the single color on the cheek. Blackness at Fengmen indicates hernia; bluish color indicates fright-water. Blue lines at Jinkui indicate fright-manic disorder.
