Hong Kong foot (podagra) pain accompanied by sores; if the Qi and Blood of Xuehai (Blood Sea) are not flourishing, the condition will not improve. Needle Taichong (LR3), Zusanli (ST36), and Xingjian (LR2); apply lifting and thrusting reducing method to Kunlun (BL60) for more than seven repetitions.
Spleen-cold syndrome invades mutually with the aforementioned symptoms; this method raises Yang and nourishes Yin simultaneously. Utilize Neiguan (PC6) [Note: Text says Jianshi PC5, WHO standard is Jianshi PC5] and Houxi (SI3). For heat conditions, use lifting technique; for cold conditions, use rubbing technique during needling.
Facial paralysis (mouth and eye deviation) with stagnant Qi that has not spread; apply raising-Yang and rubbing techniques anterior to Dicang (ST4). For left-sided deviation, apply raising-Yang rubbing on the right side; for right-sided deviation, apply raising-Yang rubbing on the left side.
Aphasia due to wind-stroke with pathogenic wind ascending; add twisting manipulation at Zhongchong (PC9) to observe floating and sinking pulse qualities. Yongquan (KI1) also employs the raising-Yang method; efficacy becomes apparent when the Qi circulates.
Bilateral hand spasm and contracture: select Quchi (LI11). Combine Waiguan (TE5) and Jianshi (PC5), directing Yang Qi to Yangchi (TE4). After reinforcing the Qi, urgently guide it downward. Between Zeqian (SI11) and Zhuzhong (SI12), ensure descending Qi follows.
Alternating lateral or frontal headache attacks: add rubbing to Baihui (GV20) until the sub-manual sensation is exhausted. Apply raising-Yang method to Fengchi (GB20) superiorly and inferiorly; needle Shugu (BL65) bilaterally to unblock the meridians.
Severe swelling and pain in the eyes: lift Zanzhu (BL2) and apply maximum reducing method. Urgently take Hegu (LI4) to guide Qi downward. At Jingming (BL1), use lifting and scraping techniques to gradually dissipate blood stasis.
Deafness requires raising-Yang method at Weizhong (BL40). At Tinghui (GB2), rub and flick as if mimicking cicada chirping. When Qi descends, treat Weizhong and Zusanli (ST36). The needling method for Yifeng (TE17) follows the previously described approach.
Cough with red phlegm indicates deep-seated disease: lifting and tonifying Bailao (EX-B1) combined with moxibustion and needling. At Feishu (BL13), use lifting, pressing, scraping, and flicking techniques. Tonify Lieque (LU7) and add moxa. Guide Qi downward from Zusanli (ST36). Tonify Pishu (BL20) with careful lifting. Pan-moxibustion at Zhongwan (CV12) and Moxibustion at Gaohuang (EX-B4). Lifting and tonifying Sihua (EX-UE8) reveals subtle benefits.
Hematemesis on the right side: center the needle near Zhongwan (CV12). Lift seven times while scraping and rotating. On the left side, circle Qihai (CV6) seven times. Lift five times and apply moxibustion naturally. Moxibustion at Zusanli (ST36) regulates Qi up and down. Reducing Danzhong (CV17) with moxibustion ensures no bias. If 2-3 moxa cones are applied to Rupen (ST16), transmit effects via lifting, pressing, scraping, and rotating at Feishu (BL13).
Lung congestion with cough: reduce Danzhong (CV17). At Feishu (BL13), first lift then tonify to attack the pathogen. Burn (warm needle) Zusanli (ST36) to guide Qi downward. Lieque (LU7) follows the same first-lift-then-tonify protocol. Quchi (LI11) must be tonified to prevent vomiting arising from cough. Pan-moxibustion at Zhongwan (CV12) three times to unblock. The sequence of point selection is defined; its subtle application depends on following the pathology.
Intermittent toothache causing torment: First, raise-Yang and bleed Shaoshang (LU11). Exclusively apply raising-Yang method above Zusanli (ST36). This toothache protocol is a transmission from immortals.
Seven types of hernia with unilateral pain: select Dadun (LR1). Add lifting and pressing to make blood flow surge. Broadly center Qugu (CV2) and Guanyuan (CV4). Raise Yinjiao (SP7) to cause lower Qi to ascend.
