The depth of acupuncture points should be determined by finger measurements, and the technique of Bian stone therapy (a external treatment method using stone needles or flakes to prick the skin for bloodletting) requires particularly exquisite skill. It is advised that one must understand various diseases so that the divine "Qiongyao" manual techniques can be mastered and applied effectively.
There are twelve meridians comprising three Yin and three Yang meridians. The Pericardium acts as the Monarch, from which the Spirit (Shen) emanates; the Lung serves as the Chancellor, governing regulation throughout the body; the Liver, located externally and belonging to Yang, takes precedence in regulating blood; the Spleen acts as the Remonstrator, impartially managing bodily functions. Selecting points on these three meridians employs the "lowering" method. The Sanjiao (Triple Burner) facilitates the unimpeded flow of water passages, its function being latent; the Bladder, as the Storehouse, excretes fluids; thus, the functions of the Five Zang and Six Fu organs are generally summarized as such.
To this day, this miraculous point therapy has been transmitted, with clear distinctions between upper and lower regions and no deviation in Qi movement. The master passed down the knowledge of various acupoints; explaining them to others makes the principles clearer and more beneficial.
The Large Intestine and Small Intestine consider the Stomach and Epigastrium as their root domain; the Bladder relies on Kidney Water, and its length is sixteen zhang.
Acupuncture needles are fine like plants, while the human body resembles the heavens. The arrangement of limbs and joints is varied yet measured similarly; meridian Qi flows constantly like water, originating from the Sea, where the Heavenly River overflows and connects with the Earthly River.
When Qi descends at Weizhong (BL40), Blood responds accordingly. Tonify and scrape Kunlun (BL60) seven times to unblock the channels. On the left side, treat the Seven Pan points at the Jinggong area, applying heavy tonification according to the patient's condition.
For Shenshu (BL23), first lift the needle then grasp it; use rubbing and twisting techniques with care. When Qi descends at Weizhong (BL40) and bleeding occurs, the illness heals. Then tonify Chengshan (BL57), following the circulation along the inner aspect of the fingers.
Apply reducing method to Zhiyin (BL67); moxibustion is also permissible. Taking blood from Weizhong (BL40) brings immediate recovery. Add the "San Cong" method to Shenshu (BL23) combined with tonification; scraping and lifting seven times is appropriate.
For waist sprain and pain, reduce Zhongdu (GB39). First guide Qi downward at Chize (LU5). For Shenshu (BL23), reduce first then scrape, maintaining a clear sequence. At Weizhong (BL40), ensure Qi descends and Blood flows smoothly.
Qi naturally descends through Huantiao (GB30). Apply tonification to Fengshi (GB31) to present the effect. Lift the needle afterwards, scrape, and apply heavy moxibustion. Lifting Yanglingquan (GB34) helps descend and calm the Qi.
Between the left and right Seven Pan points lies Zhongwan (CV12). Heavily scrape the left side seven times and return. Tonify Qihai (CV6) with frequent scraping. Tonify Zusanli (ST36) and reduce Neiguan (PC6).
Chest and heart pain are hardest to bear. First reduce Daling (PC7) to facilitate the downward movement of Qi. If there is accumulation and severe pain at Neiguan (PC6), apply reduction. Detailed moxibustion should be added to the left Seven Pan points and Zhongwan (CV12).
Moxibustion is added to the right sector of Shangwan (CV13). Praise the combination of three lifts and four tonifications at Neiting (ST44). Four rotations and seven plucks ensuring accurate bleeding; ascending to Zusanli (ST36) with moxibustion causes no error.
For abdominal pain, reduce Neiguan (PC6). Between four tonifications and three lifts at Neiting (ST44), perform three rotations and seven plcks until bleeding occurs. Treat the left Seven Pan points and ascend/climb the right sector points.
For Danian abdominal pain, moxibustion provides much relief. Use odd numbers (seven-seven) for the left and right sector points. Hastily draw Qi downward at Zusanli (ST36); the pain will immediately widen and subside.
