Twenty-two Acupoints of the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian on Both Sides
Dadun (LR1), two acupoints. Element: Wood. Located at the tip of the great toe, approximately the width of a leek leaf away from the nail corner, within the cluster of hair. Moxibustion: 3 cones. Needling: 0.3 cun. Retention: 6 breaths.
Qian Yun records: Located in the clustered hair of the great toe.
Xingjian (LR2), two acupoints. Element: Fire. Located in the depression where the arterial pulse is palpable between the great toe and the second toe. Moxibustion: 3 cones. Needling: 0.6 cun. Retention: 10 breaths.
Taichong (LR3), two acupoints. Element: Earth. Located in the depression 2 cun or 1.5 cun distal to the root of the great toe (first metatarsophalangeal joint). Note attached: Palpation of the Taichong pulse can determine life or death prognosis in men. Needling: 0.3 cun. Retention: 10 breaths. Moxibustion: 3 cones. Ming Yun records: Located in the depression between the bones 2 cun distal to the root of the great toe. Moxibustion: 5 cones. Su Zhu (Commentary on Suwen) records: Located 2 cun distal to the root of the great toe, where the arterial pulse is palpable. Commentary on treating lumbar pain records: Located 2 cun medial to the root of the great toe.
Zhongfeng (LR4), two acupoints. Element: Metal. Located 1 cun anterior to the medial malleolus. Take the point with the foot dorsiflexed (lying flat); it is not accessible when the foot is extended. Needling: 0.4 cun. Retention: 7 breaths. Moxibustion: 3 cones.
Su Zhu records: 1.5 cun anterior to the medial malleolus. Jia Yi Jing records: 1 cun. (Qian Yun agrees with Su Zhu. Also records: on a small oblique vessel 1 cun anterior to the medial malleolus. Also known as Xuanquan.)
Ligou (LR5), two acupoints. Located 5 cun above the medial malleolus. Connects to the Shaoyang meridian. Needling: 0.2 cun. Retention: 3 breaths. Moxibustion: 3 cones. Ming Xia Yun records: 5 cones.
(Also records that Jiaoyi is located 5 cun above the medial malleolus, likely referring to Ligou. However, since Ligou is listed separately, this is confusing. Ligou is also known as Jiaoyi.)
Zhongdu (LR6), two acupoints. Also known as Zhong . Located 7 cun above the medial malleolus, within the tibia bone. Aligns directly with the Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian. Needling: 0.3 cun. Moxibustion: 5 cones.
Xiguan (LR7), two acupoints. Located in the depression 2 cun below Dubi (ST35). Needling: 0.4 cun. Moxibustion: 5 cones. (Dubi belongs to the Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian.)
Ququan (LR8), two acupoints. Element: Water. Located in the depression under the medial condyle of the knee, between the large tendon and the small tendon. Take the point with the knee flexed. Also records: With the knee flexed straight, in the hollow between the two tendons internally and externally. Also at the head of the transverse crease when the knee is bent. Needling: 0.6 cun. Moxibustion: 3 cones.
Yinbao (LR9) (Mingtang Jing writes "Bao"), two acupoints. Located 4 cun above the knee, between the two tendons on the medial aspect of the thigh. Needling: 0.6 cun. Moxibustion: 3 cones. Ming Yun records: 5 cones.
Wuli (LR10), two acupoints. Located 3 cun below Qichong (ST30), in the arterial pulse of the medial thigh. Moxibustion: 5 cones. Needling: 0.6 cun. Treats intestinal fullness, heat obstruction, and inability to urinate. Qichong is located on the third row of abdominal meridians. (Yinlian is near Qichong.)
There are two Wuli points: one is 3 cun above the elbow on the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian, and the other is here. This refers to Foot Wuli.
Yinlian (LR11), two acupoints. Located below the "sheep testicle" (referring to the root of the penis or clitoris area), 2 cun from Qichong in the arterial pulse. Moxibustion: 3 cones. Indicated for infertility (to enable conception). Needling: 0.8 cun. Retention: 7 breaths.
