(There are twenty-two items in total.)
Perilla Seed (Zisuzi) (indicated for asthma and cough) White Mustard Seed (Baijiezi) (indicated for phlegm) Radish Seed (Luoboziz) (indicated for food stagnation with distension and phlegm).
The above three herbs are washed clean, lightly stir-fried, and crushed. Depending on which symptom is more prominent, the herb corresponding to that symptom serves as the Jun herb (sovereign herb), while the others serve as Chen/Zuo/Shi herbs (minister/assistant/courier herbs). The total dosage per prescription shall not exceed three qian. Place them in a small bag made of fine silk, decoct in water to make a soup for drinking. It can be taken alongside palatable foods, replacing tea, sipped slowly. It should not be over-decocted. If the patient usually has dry stools, add a small amount of cooked honey before taking the medicine. In cold winter weather, add three slices of fresh ginger.
This formula is the "Dao Cang Fa" (Stomach Purging Method), transmitted from the Western Regions. Someone advised me to use decoctions to treat phlegm, so I deduced and expanded upon this method.
Yellow Ox (Hugu Niu) (one head; select a pure yellow, fat, lustrous, disease-free ox of one or two years old).
Clean the ox thoroughly. Select the meat from the four legs and the spinal ridge of the neck. Remove the fascia. Cut the lean meat into pieces the size of chestnuts. Weigh thirty jin or forty to fifty jin. In a quiet room, place the meat in a large copper pot (or a new iron pot if copper is unavailable) with running water. Decoct for a long time, stirring occasionally. Boil the broth separately in another new pot and add it continuously, ensuring the water covers the meat by five to six cun. Skim off the foam. Continue decocting until the meat is rotten like mud. Filter out the dregs. Then filter the meat juice through fine cloth into a small copper pot. Use mulberry wood fire, alternating between Wen Huo (gentle fire) and Wu Huo (vigorous fire), stirring constantly without adding raw water. Decoct only until the liquid becomes thick like thin syrup, does not scatter when dropped, and turns amber-colored. The paste is then complete. (Care must be taken with the fire control in this step, otherwise it will fail.) Generally, every twelve jin of meat yields one jin of paste as the standard. Store in porcelain vessels. This is named "Xia Tian Gao" (Rosy Sky Paste). When used to prepare decoctions, start with a small amount and gradually increase; it melts naturally when boiled hot. If used to prepare pills, mix three fen of the paste with one fen of white flour, cook together into a paste, or blend evenly with refined honey. For long-term storage in winter, if mold appears, boil it in a double boiler. In summer, store it sealed in cold water; it can be kept for three days.
(The following four formulas were secretly taught by Master Wang: Pronounced "Cui". Resembles "Zun Sui Qie". Refers to the yin organ of the newborn child. See *Laozi*.)
Deer possesses pure Yang Qi and is also known as Ban Long ("Spotted Dragon"). "Jing" (referring to deer semen here) is the primordial Qi at the beginning of heaven and earth separation, and the essence generated by the interaction of male and female. Medical texts state that Deer Antler Velvet (Lurong), Deer Horn (Lu Jiao), Deer Blood (Luxue), and Deer Marrow (Lusui) greatly benefit humans. This method reaches a divine level.
The method involves selecting three to five pairs of young male deer, raising them tamed in an enclosure. Every day, provide them with decoction of Ginseng Root (Renshen) mixed with various herbal grasses, allowing them to eat and drink freely. After a long period, mix fine powder of Realgar (Huangshi/Sulfur) into their feed, starting from a small amount and gradually increasing. When the environment is dry, reduce the amount, cycling repeatedly. Within about three years, there will come a day when the deer sheds its hair and reveals its sinews, its Qi becoming extremely abundant and Yang reaching its peak. At this point, induce a female deer outside the enclosure to attract it. Let it desire mating but be unable to achieve it, or allow it to ejaculate externally, or let it mate once, then devise a method to collect its semen. Store it in a porcelain vessel. It will be fragrant and viscous like syrup. This is called "Jing" (Deer Semen).
Combine it with appropriate tonic formulas according to individual needs. Ancient formulas include Ba Wei Di Huang Wan (Eight-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia), Bu Yin Wan (Nourish Yin Pill), Gu Ben Wan (Solidify Root Pill), etc. Add one-third refined honey to this "Jing", mix well to form pills. Alternatively, mix it with Lu Jiao Shuang (Deer Antler Powder) alone to form pills. Take on an empty stomach with salted wine. It is especially effective in treating severe cases of deficiency consumption (Xu Zhai). My congenital weakness and emaciation relied on this to be reborn. I wish to share it with everyone.
