(1) Among various methods of consumption, it is best to make cakes and roast them for eating. [Jia Ming's note]
(2) According to careful examination: Mung bean (Vigna radiata Seed) tonifies and benefits the body, harmonizes the five Zang organs (Heart, Liver, Spleen, Lung, Kidney), stabilizes the spirit, and promotes the circulation through the twelve meridians. This is its most excellent efficacy. Nowadays, people remove the skin when consuming it, which may slightly cause Qi stagnation. If used for treating diseases, the skin must be retained; therefore, it should not be removed. [Jia Ming's note]
(3) Additionally, grinding the beans to extract juice and boiling it for drinking can treat Xiao Ke (Wasting-Thirst Syndrome). [Jia Ming's note]
(4) Furthermore, it expels wind pathogens, boosts energy and strength, and moistens the skin and flesh. It can be consumed regularly over a long period. [Jia Ming's note]
Nature: Neutral. Non-toxic. Tonifies the five Zang organs, enriches the Middle Jiao (Spleen and Stomach), assists the circulation of the twelve meridians, regulates the Middle Jiao, and warms the stomach and intestines. Leaves: Promote the free flow of the five Zang organs and direct Qi downward. Tender leaves can be eaten as vegetables. Eating them raw is also excellent and they can be consumed frequently. [Supplemented by Jia Ming]
(1) Excessive consumption damages the Stomach Qi. Mung bean eliminates various toxic vapors and kills evil toxins. It can treat Chan Hou Xue Qi Yun (Postpartum Blood and Qi Syncope): Take high-quality clear vinegar, heat and boil it, and slowly hold it in the mouth until recovery. [Chen Cangqi · Jia Ming's note]
(2) Additionally, for sores or ulcers inside the mouth, soaking them in Huang Pi Cu (Vinegar with Yellow Peel) and holding it in the mouth leads to immediate healing. [Jia Ming's note]
(3) Additionally, for epidemics in cattle and horses, mix with vinegar and administer orally. [Jia Ming's note]
(4) While taking other medications, one should not eat mung beans in large quantities. Do not consume together with clam meat, as their properties are contrary. [Jia Ming's note]
(5) Additionally, people outside the Jiang River region mostly produce rice vinegar, while people in the north mostly produce lees vinegar. These vinegars may trigger reactions with various medicines and should not be consumed together. [Jia Ming's note]
(6) (Vinegar) Grind Qing Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix) and take it with vinegar to stop sudden heart pain and Blood-Qi pain. [Chen Cangqi · Jia Ming's note]
(7) Additionally, apply Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) to swellings, using Mi Cu (Rice Vinegar) Fei Dan (Calcined Cinnabar). [Jia Ming's note]
(8) To treat Pi Ji (Abdominal Masses), decoct Da Huang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma) in vinegar; fresh Da Huang is very effective. [Zhang Ding's note]
(9) Rice vinegar is best; wheat vinegar is inferior. Lees vinegar has many contraindications. Barley vinegar is slightly cold. Others are similar to wheat vinegar. [Zhang Ding's note]
(10) For arm and knee/leg pain caused by Qi stagnation and Wind obstruction: Wrap the affected area with stir-fried vinegar lees, changing every three liang (approx. 90g); it should heal. However, excessive human consumption damages the waist muscles and internal organs. [Zhang Ding's note]
