(1) Primarily treats headache caused by wind-stroke (Zhong Feng, stroke due to wind pathogen) and cold damage (Shang Han, damage from cold pathogens). [Jia Ming's note]
(2) Additionally, for severe and burdensome carbuncles and sores (Ding Zhong), crush fresh Xuan Shen Gen (Cang Er Root) and leaves, mix with infant urine, squeeze out the juice, and take one sheng (approx. 200ml) cold, three times a day; it is highly effective. [Jia Ming's note]
(3) It can extract the root of carbuncles and sores. [Chen Zangqi's note]
(4) Additionally, for treating various wind pathogens: Take one dan (approx. 60kg) of tender leaves, chop them, crush them, and mix with five sheng (approx. 1L) of Mai Qu (Wheat Leaven/Koji), forming them into blocks. Place them among Artemisia vulgaris (Ai Cao) and wild mugwort for twenty days until they resemble leaven. Take one dou (approx. 10L) of rice, steam it into cooked rice. When the temperature is suitable, add the Cang Er Mai Qu (Cang Er Wheat Leaven) and ferment three da sheng (approx. 6L) of wine. Seal for fourteen days until mature. Drink this wine warm on an empty stomach; it is miraculously effective. To store this wine, cover with two layers of cloth; do not seal completely tight, or the liquid will overflow. [Chen Zangqi's note]
(5) Additionally, it should not be eaten with horse meat. [Chen Zangqi's note]
Steamed consumption eliminates alcohol toxicity. Its powder is also very beneficial. [Chen Zangqi's note]
(1) Zi (Seeds): Promotes lactation. [Chen Zangqi's note]

(1) The upper part primarily benefits the intestines and stomach, promoting appetite. It descends to the San Jiao (Triple Burner), eliminating foul qi. Eating it together with the seeds is even better. People in the Jiangbei region often do not recognize this plant, whereas people in the south consume it. [Volume · Jia Ming's note]
(2) Additionally, it primarily helps restore the voice and qi of the five zang organs, enhancing physical strength. [Volume · Jia Ming's note]
(3) Additionally, boiling the branches and leaves for drinking treats sudden Qi Ben Jue (sudden rushing of Qi, akin to panic attacks or asthma). It also unblocks the twelve meridians. Its stem is Tong Cao (Tetrapanacis Medulla), which promotes the flow of Qi obstructed in the joints. Currently, northerners only know Tong Cao but are unaware of the efficacy of its seeds. (The skin is inedible). [Volume · Jia Ming's note]
(4) Boiling and drinking it unblocks blood and qi in women. Decoct strongly into three to five cups, and patency is achieved immediately. [Chen Zangqi's note]
(5) Additionally, it removes Qi obstruction caused by cold and heat, eliminates Shu Lu (scrofula/lymphatic tuberculosis), Jin Chuang (metal wounds), and fractures. Making wine from the decoction is excellent. [Chen Zangqi's note]
