[Softshell Turtle]
Those whose heads and limbs do not retract, eyes that are individually red, bellies that are not red underneath, and plastrons with patterns resembling the character "Wang" (King) or snake-like markings, must not be eaten. If pregnant women consume them, it may result in offspring with short necks. It should not be eaten together with amaranth, mustard seeds, pork, rabbit meat, or duck eggs, as this will harm the human body.
[Crab]
Only edible after the eighth lunar month; early consumption is toxic. Those with incomplete legs, single claws, single eyes, or hair on the underside of the belly must not be eaten. Crab nature is extremely cold and easily causes internal injury and abdominal pain.
[Clam]
Nature is cold; excessive consumption causes abdominal pain. Clams can induce coughing, deplete kidney essence, and generate phlegm.
[River Snail]
Greatly cold in nature; clears heat and resolves alcohol intoxication, but is difficult to digest and may cause diarrhea.
[Shrimp]
Stirs up fire and triggers tinea and scabies. Consumption by children may cause leg flexion and inability to walk. Shrimp without whiskers and with black undersides, or those that turn white when boiled, must not be eaten.
[Jellyfish]
Eliminates accumulation and stagnation. Suitable for those suffering from malaria, dysentery, watery diarrhea, and sores/toxins; it should be cut finely and consumed in large quantities.
[Scallion Porridge]
Treats wind-cold invasion with nasal congestion. Cook glutinous rice into porridge; near completion, add several stalks of scallions with roots included, boil briefly, and eat. This prescription also treats fetal restlessness during pregnancy and blood syncope postpartum.
[Cocklebur Porridge]
Treats dimness of eyes and ears, and clear rhinorrhea due to various wind pathogens. Also treats lower bleeding and hemorrhoids. Take five qian of Cocklebur Fruit (Xuanxiongzi), extract juice, mix with three he of rice, and cook/eat. Can also be made into soup or decocted as tea. Fresh ones are preferred, but dried ones from pharmacies are acceptable if fresh ones are unavailable.
[Boiled Black Carp]
Treats all types of epilepsy and wind-stroke syndromes. Clean a large black carp, remove intestines, stuff with Cocklebur Fruit, tie tightly, line the pot bottom with Cocklebur Leaves, bury the fish, and cook thoroughly. Do not use salt or vinegar. Eating the fish three to four times yields miraculous effects.
[Mutton Fat Porridge]
Treats hemiplegia. Cook mutton fat, japonica rice, scallion whites, ginger, Sichuan pepper, and fermented soybeans into porridge. Consume one portion daily; cured within ten days.
[Pine Resin Powder]
Treats leprosy (also known as big hemp leprosy or lai disease). This is the most malignant disease, characterized by numbness of hands and feet, loss of hair and eyebrows, generalized urticaria turning into sores, bleeding without pus, muscle ulceration, collapse of the nasal bridge, severe cases involving loss of eyebrows, hoarseness, sensation of insects crawling on the body and face, shrinkage and loss of finger joints, perforation of soles, unbearable foul odor, and complete alteration of appearance. It is contagious, causing even relatives to avoid the patient. It is prevalent in Lingnan, where leprosariums were established for isolation. Cases also occur among those living in damp, low-lying areas or those with damp-heat constitutions, attributed to accumulated karmic retribution. One should confess sins, abstain from lust, anger, and all stimulating foods such as pork, mutton, chicken, goose, fish, and crab. Upon obtaining this divine prescription, long-term self-administration leads to spontaneous recovery. However, the disease is deep-seated; medication must be taken persistently. Without persistence, there is no benefit. Without adhering to dietary taboos, there is no benefit. Without self-confession and acknowledgment of fault, there is no benefit. As the saying goes, "Leprosy patients eating meat do not expect to retain their human form," which is true. Ignoring taboos and failing to repent sincerely leads to irreversible loss, which is tragic. Use clear pine resin, amount unspecified, remove dregs, take freshwater from streams/rivers or rainwater, melt the resin in a clean pot while stirring constantly until the water resembles rice-washing water and tastes extremely bitter. Pour into cold water, pull the hot resin to spread it, let it harden upon cooling, change water, and repeat. Repeat dozens of times until the resin becomes brittle, pure white, and the boiling water is clear and not bitter. Dry in shade, grind to fine powder, and sift extremely finely. For each dose of two jin, make white rice porridge daily, wait until warm, mix in appropriate amount of powder, and eat freely without chewing much. Eat again when hungry, several meals a day, avoiding other foods. Only allow small amounts of dried vegetables and bamboo shoots with dry rice. Strictly prohibit oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar, meat, alcohol, fruits, sugar, flour, and miscellaneous items. When thirsty, do not drink tea; use plain boiled water, cool to warm, mix with medicine, and drink. Start with a few qian daily, gradually increasing, not too much. After about ten days, vomiting, chest discomfort/nausea, or expulsion of toxins via stool may occur due to strong medicinal action; force continuation, do not stop. Long-standing chronic diseases are fully cured after completing a full dose; shallower diseases require half a dose, resulting in regrowth of eyebrows/hair, restored skin, relaxed muscles/bones, and return to normal health. Diet restrictions are lifted except for pig head, goose meat, and damp-toxic substances, which are forbidden for life. Though the ingredients are common, the effect is miraculous. I obtained this prescription with difficulty and now publish it widely without reservation, hoping benevolent people will prepare and distribute it, accruing great merit.
[Yellow Ox Brain Marrow Wine]
Treats long-standing or recent lateral and frontal headaches. Take one yellow ox brain marrow, add three qian each of Angelica Dahurica Root (Baizhi) and Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizome (Chuanxiong) powders, place in a ceramic vessel, add wine, cook until ready, consume while hot. Drink to intoxication, then sleep. Upon waking, the illness disappears.
