This is caused by marital intercourse, which agitates the bones and joints, leading to uncontrollable hemorrhage. One should urgently treat it according to the formula for postpartum hemorrhage due to sexual fatigue mentioned above, or one may also apply various formulas for treating hemorrhage from the preceding "Regulating Menses" section.
This is the harm caused by the incomplete discharge of lochia. Generally, it arises because the parturient's lochia does not come out, or does not come out completely. Or, the parturient fears medication; although suffering from illness, she endures it in silence without speaking. Or, the host and the physician stubbornly adhere to the theory that postpartum deficiency requires tonification, refusing to lightly use blood-dispelling medicines. This results in retained foul blood stagnating, and over time failing to dissipate, forming masses attached to the uterus. These masses obstruct menstruation, block fertility, and shorten natural lifespan. Treating it with various formulas from the "Abdominal Masses" (Pi Ji) section is most effective.
Jiaxuanma [Daylily Root / Hemerocallis citrina Baroni], washed and sliced, decocted into a thick juice and taken orally, will reduce fever and stop mania. Alternatively, using the external treatment formula for mania due to Taiyang disease in Volume 14 is even more wonderful.
The Heart governs the blood vessels. Excessive loss of blood leads to a vague and unsettled mind, restless sleep, inappropriate speech, and hallucinations of seeing ghosts and spirits. Laypeople, ignorant of this condition, mistakenly call it demonic possession, misleading many. It is suitable to use Fushen San: Fushen [Poria with Hostwood], Baiziren [Biota Seed], Yuanzhi [Polygala Root], Dangshen [Codonopsis Root], Danggui [Angelica Sinensis Root], Shengdi [Rehmannia Root], Zhi Gancao [Prepared Licorice Root] each 1 qian, Rougui [Cinnamon Bark] 0.5 qian, one pig heart (castrated pig is preferred), one cup of water and one cup of wine, decocted until half remains. Add one zhong of child's urine, mix with 1 qian of Zhensha [Cinnabar], and take after meals with Wulingzhi [Trogopterus Dung] powder mixed with 1 qian.
Dizziness and sweating are described later. This is foul blood flowing into the Liver Meridian, hence seeing black spots before the eyes. All wind syndromes involving tremors and shaking belong to Wood of the Liver. Initially presenting as dizziness, use Qinghun San [Soul-Clearing Powder] below, adding Mudanpi [Moutan Cortex] 2 qian. Decoct with one cup of water and one cup of wine until half remains, then add one zhong of child's urine and take together.
Postpartum dizziness with sudden collapse and unconsciousness, clenched jaw, and cold breath is called Xueyun [Blood Syncope]. This is a malignant condition, and many cases are incurable. If mistaken for Wind-Stroke syndrome, the physician will essentially kill the patient. This occurs because, during labor, the preventive formulas for blood syncope mentioned earlier were not used. There are two types of symptoms, which must be treated separately. If too much blood has been lost and the patient suddenly faints, this is a deficiency of both Qi and Blood. Urgently use the Leek Vinegar Sniffing Method (see "Necessities Before Labor" above) to wait for her to regain consciousness. Use Ze [Zelan / Radix Dichroae or similar herb, text incomplete] to take together.
If blood loss is slight, lochia is not yet complete, and there is abdominal pain accompanied by dizziness, use the aforementioned method to awaken her, then use Heishen San [Black God Powder]: 1 he of Black Bean stir-fried, Shudi [Prepared Rehmannia Root], Danggui [Angelica Sinensis Root], Rougui [Cinnamon Bark] (peeled), Jiangtang [Stir-fried Ginger], Zhi Gancao [Prepared Licorice Root], Baishao [White Peony Root] (wine-stir-fried), Puhuang [Typha Pollen] each 2 qian. Decoct and take according to the above method.
Another prescription: Pull up the hair, sit firmly, do not lie supine. Urgently throw red-hot chestnut charcoal, or bricks, stones, or weight hammers into aged vinegar, and fumigate the nostrils to awaken spontaneously. Additionally, use Danggui [Angelica Sinensis Root] 6 qian, Chuanxiong [Ligusticum Rhizome] 3 qian, Jiesui [Schizonepeta Spike] 3 qian (stir-fried until black). Decoct in water, and before taking, mix with good wine and child's urine. The effect is extremely miraculous.
Another prescription: Wulingzhi [Trogopterus Dung], half raw and half stir-fried, ground into powder. Take 1 qian per dose, mixed with plain boiled water. If the jaw is clenched, pry open with a porcelain spoon and instill; upon entering the throat, recovery is immediate. Alternatively, using Shixiao San [Pain-Dispel Powder] (see "Various Qi Pain Sections" in Volume 3) is even more wonderful.
Another prescription: Burn thirty sheets of white paper to ash, flush down with hot wine. Even if dead for one day, remove a tooth and instill, and life can be restored.
Another prescription: Smoke dry lacquer residue or broken lacquerware to awaken. Or, burn dried lotus leaves to ash, mix with warm wine, and take orally.
Another prescription: Treat according to Huatuo Yufeng San [Huatuo's Wind-Dispelling Powder] below, which is most miraculous.
