Stir-fry the tips of Schizonepetae Spica (Jingjie Sui) until charred black, grind into powder, and take three qian mixed with urine from a young boy to cure immediately. Alternatively, treating it according to various formulas for nasal conditions in Volume I would be even more effective.
Postpartum excessive blood loss leads to internal consumption of body fluids, sudden deficiency of Stomach Qi, and immediate generation of internal heat; thus, dry mouth, dry throat, and thirst occur. Use Renshen Maidong Tang (Ginseng and Ophiopogon Decoction): Codonopsis Radix (Ta Dang), Ophiopogonis Radix (Maidong), Rehmanniae Radix Recens (Sheng Di), Paeoniae Radix Alba (note: text says Gua Lou Gen which is Trichosanthis Radix, but standard formula often uses Sheng Di/Mai Dong, sticking to text: Trichosanthis Radix (Gua Lou Gen)), and Glycyrrhzae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle (Zhi Cao) each two qian. First, decoct ten leaves of Lophatheri Herba (Dan Zhu Ye) and one he of Oryzae Fructus Germinatus (Jing Mi) in water to make one bowl of soup. Remove the rice and leaves, add three slices of Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Sheng Jiang) and three dates (Jujubae Fructus), decoct until seven-tenths remain, and take warm. Or, mix with cooked honey and warm water to drink, which is most excellent.
This condition arises from extreme deficiency of Qi and Blood, insufficiency of Middle Qi, and premature consumption of wheat products. The Spleen and Stomach cannot digest them, causing "wheat toxin" to accumulate in the Stomach and ascend to fumigate the chest, resulting in these symptoms. Do not use purgatives. It is suitable to use pills (see later). If the organ Qi is originally deficient, accompanied by accumulated cold, with symptoms of chest and abdominal distension and pain, vomiting, nausea, and reduced appetite, this is also due to sudden postpartum deficiency of Qi and Blood, allowing wind-cold to invade, causing pathogenic cold to prevail internally and exacerbating chronic diseases. Use Wuzhuyu Tang (Evodia Decoction): Evodiae Fructus (Wuzhuyu, stir-fried) 1.5 qian, Platycodonis Radix (Jiegeng), Zingiberis Rhizoma (Ganjiang, stir-fried), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle (Zhi Cao), Pinelliae Rhizoma Preparatum (Banxia) each one qian, Asari Radix et Rhizoma (Xixin) six fen, Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Poria (Fuling), Cinnamomi Cortex (Rougui), and Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenpi) each eight [units implied, likely fen or qian based on context], processed into pills, taken with radish soup.
A woman suffered from her tongue protruding and unable to retract after childbirth; all treatments failed. Later, cinnabar was applied to her tongue to resemble a newborn infant's appearance. One person held her steady while another quietly threw a large earthenware vessel to the ground outside the window. Startled by the noise, the woman's tongue immediately retracted.
Disordered blood disperses in the Spleen and Stomach. When the Spleen is affected, it cannot transport and transform essence and fluids, leading to abdominal distension. When the Stomach is affected, it cannot receive food and water, leading to vomiting and regurgitation. Using ordinary remedies for distension and vomiting will mismatch the syndrome and aggravate the disease. Use Chishao (Paeoniae Radix Rubra), Banxia Zhizhi (Prepared Pinellia), Zelan Ye (Lysimachiae Herba), Chen Qu Bai (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium without white pith), and Dangshen (Codonopsis) each two qian, plus Ezhu (Curcumae Rhizoma, baked). For a wiry pulse, soak [ingredients] and decoct in water. Process into pills, taken with radish soup. Jiawei Liujunzi Tang (Modified Six Gentlemen Decoction): Treats postpartum food stagnation with vomiting and abdominal distension. Poria (Fuling), Codonopsis Radix (Dangshen), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle (Zhi Cao), Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium (Chenpi), Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma (Baizhu), and Pinelliae Rhizoma Preparatum (Banxia) each one qian, Aurantii Fructus Immaturus (Zhishi, stir-fried with flour), and Crataegi Fructus (Shanzha) each five fen, Curcumae Longae Rhizoma (Jianghuang) three fen, Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Sheng Jiang) three slices. Decoct in water and take after meals.
