In cases of self-strangulation, hanging, drowning, and all forms of suicide, people are often afraid to rescue, or believe that death has occurred and resurrection is impossible. However, if rescue methods are applied correctly, life can be restored. Saving one person can preserve the lives of two families. The formulas listed below, if administered according to the method, will surely yield miraculous effects. Even if there is no hope of survival, one should still do their utmost and leave the outcome to Heaven's will; one must not see death and fail to act.
In cases of sudden death due to suffocation (five types of suspension/death), immediately crush fresh Jiucai (Chinese Chives) to extract juice and instill it into the nasal cavity. Alternatively, add Zhaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina) powder and Shexiang (Moschus) and instill together for faster results.
Huisheng Dan (Life-Restoring Pill) (see section on Traumatic Injuries later): Instill immediately to restore consciousness; truly a celestial pill.
Another formula: Do not cut the rope. Immediately wrap hands in clothing and press tightly against the anus. For women, press against the vulva/vagina as well. Slowly embrace and untie the body, place them gently on bedding, and immediately put the used hanging rope into a bowl and steam it over fire; this accelerates revival. One person steps on the shoulders, holding the hair tightly to keep the head elevated; another person gently manipulates the throat; another rubs and presses the chest and heart area, and gently massages the abdomen; another rubs the limbs and slowly bends them. If the body is stiff, gradually force flexion. Additionally, use feet wrapped in clothing to tightly press the anus and vulva to prevent gas leakage; two persons use bamboo tubes to blow air into both ears continuously, or drip cockscomb blood into the nose (left nostril for males using male rooster, right nostril for females using female hen). Continue for the duration of a meal [Text implies "then they revive"].

Another formula: Follow the previous rescue method. Then lay the thumbs flat and secure them with a small strap. At the Guiku Acupoint (Ghost Crying Point), located one and a half fen from the nail corner in the webbing between the fingers, burn moxa three to seven times. Also burn both soles three times, and the patient will revive. For those who hanged themselves due to evil invasion, burning the Guiku Acupoint extensively is key.
Another formula: Stir-fry two large bags of raw salt until hot. Iron (apply heat) from the neck/throat down to below the umbilicus. Replace when cool, without stopping, until phlegm is fully expelled. Simultaneously, perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation for faster revival.
Another formula: Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), eight fen; Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex), Zhi Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, prepared), each one qian; Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex), Ganjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma), each five fen; Gancao (Licorice Root), three fen. Decoct in water and take orally.
Another formula: Pierce the ear with the core of a scallion. When blood flows from the nose, the patient revives.
Another formula: Press the mouth tightly with hands to block airflow. After approximately two shichen (four hours), when breathing becomes urgent, the patient revives.
Another formula: Grind Zhaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina) and Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma) in equal parts into powder. Blow a bean-sized amount into both nostrils.
Another formula: Use two to three fen of real wild goat blood, grind extremely fine, and administer with good wine. Immediate revival occurs.
