1. Prepared Sulfur Pill: The foundation of the human body is governed by the primordial true fire of the Mingmen (Gate of Life). When this fire is robust, the Spleen Earth and the five Zang organs become strong. Just as a wealthy family head ensures prosperity in all matters, if this fire becomes deficient, the Spleen and Stomach weaken, food intake decreases, and there is no essence/fluid to nourish the organs, leading to weakness of the five Zang organs and susceptibility to various diseases, especially in the elderly. In old age, this fire inevitably declines; long-term use of Fuzi (Prepared Aconite Root) and Rougui (Cinnamon Bark) often proves ineffective, resulting in symptoms such as deafness, blurred vision, tooth loss, and whitening of hair. These symptoms are difficult to eliminate without this pill. This pill specifically tonifies the primordial origin, strengthens the Spleen and Stomach, fortifies sinews and bones, treats deficiency, tooth loss, and impotence, and dispels myriad diseases. Long-term use restores a youthful complexion and enhances vitality in the elderly. However, *Yao Xing* (Characteristics of Medicinals) states: Sulfur is a pure Yang substance, comparable in efficacy to Lurong (Deer Antler Velvet), but its nature is excessively hot and toxic. It also states: Although Sulfur is hot, it unblocks the Large Intestine, unlike drying and astringent herbs. Furthermore: Hot herbs often cause constipation, yet Sulfur warms and promotes bowel movement; cold herbs often cause diarrhea, yet Huanglian (Coptis Rhizome) moistens the intestines and stops diarrhea. Many claim that long-term use inevitably causes toxicity, but this is due to imprecise processing by pharmacies. If prepared correctly at home, there will be no harm. Sulfur from foreign lands is superior; local sulfur must not be used.
First method: Use old white tofu. Grind sulfur into powder. Place bamboo strips at the bottom of a clean clay pot, layer tofu on top, then layer sulfur, repeating until full. Boil in water until the tofu turns yellow-black. Rinse thoroughly with clear water and boil three more times. Ratio: 1 jin (500g) sulfur to 1 jin tofu. Alternatively, boil with black beans.
Second method: Hollow out large radishes, insert sulfur powder, seal tightly, and simmer slowly until the radish is yellow-black and soft. Rinse with clear water and boil twice more. Alternatively, slice radish and mix. Ratio: 1 jin sulfur to 2 jin radish.
Third method: Wash fresh purple-backed duckweed (Fuping), mix with sulfur powder, and boil until the duckweed rots. Remove root hairs and rinse well. Alternatively, crush and take juice to mix. Ratio: 1 jin sulfur to 3 jin duckweed.
Fourth method: Select and wash new mung beans, mix with sulfur powder, and boil until beans are soft. Rinse well. Ratio: 1 jin sulfur to 2 jin beans.
Fifth method: Use Shichangpu (Acorus Tatarinowii Rhizome), wash and cut into small pieces. Mix with sulfur powder and boil until soft. Taking the juice for mixing is better.
Sixth method: Use equal parts Pine needles and Cypress leaves. Wash, remove branches, chop leaves, mix with sulfur, and boil until leaves rot. Rinse well.
Seventh method: Use Lotus root or Pear, or half lotus root and half pear. Slice and decoct with sulfur until soft.
Eighth method: Clean thick pig large intestine thoroughly. Grind sulfur finely, rinse, and pack into the intestine. Tie both ends tightly to prevent leakage. Boil until the intestine is cooked and soft. Soak overnight in clear water, clarify, and dry in shade.
Ninth method: Dihuang (Rehmannia Root) 2 liang, Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root) whole, Dongguo Tianma (Gastrodia Elata) and Maidong (Ophiopogon Tuber) 1 liang each, Chuanxiong (Ligusticum Rhizome), Chenpi (Citrus Peel), Gouqi (Goji Berry), Duzhong (Eucommia Bark), Fuling (Poria), Zhigancao (Honey-fried Licorice Root), Qianhu (Peucedanum Root), Fangfeng (Saposhnikovia Root), Zexie (Alisma Rhizome), Shechuangzi (Cnidium Fruit), Wujapi (Acanthopanax Bark) each 5 qian. For every 1 jin sulfur, use one dose of herbs, increasing proportionally. Decoct with clear water until concentrated, add sulfur powder, and boil until the liquid is dry. Take out and dry in shade. Mix with millet porridge to form pills the size of mung beans. Dry in shade and store in porcelain jars. Take with salted water every morning. Month 1: 3 fen; Month 2: 4 fen; Month 3: 6 fen; Month 4: 8 fen; Month 5: 1 qian. Increase monthly up to 2 qian. Stop if disease cures to avoid potential toxicity. Avoid all animal blood and Xixin (Asarum Root).
Seven-Prepared Gu Zhi Pill: Treats deficiency of Mingmen fire, lower Yuan depletion, deafness, blurred vision, lower back pain, weak legs, cold back with seminal emission, impotence, excessive urination, bone and tendon pain, abdominal coldness, Spleen/Stomach weakness, indigestion, night sweats, mental fatigue, and frequent lying down. Functions: Tonify fire, strengthen Yang, secure essence, promote fertility, preserve true Yuan, strengthen sinews and bones, benefit Spleen/Stomach, boost spirit, eliminate disease. Efficacy cannot be fully described. Suitable for both men and women. Take 1 qian empty stomach every morning with light salted water. After one month, increase by 3 fen, up to 2 qian. Avoid sheep blood, Youcai (Rapeseed/Broccoli), and vegetable oil. Those with Yin deficiency and fluid depletion should take this in the morning and Liuwei Dihuang Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia) in the evening.
