This condition is named Xuan Yong (Hanging Abscess); the formula can be found in the "Sea Bottom" section.
Please refer to the "Stool Gate" section.
For unsatisfactory urination, as well as hematuria and leukorrhea, please see the subsequent "Strangury Gate". This condition varies in cold, heat, excess, and deficiency patterns, so there is no fixed treatment method. After using a formula, if there is no effect after one or two hours, another treatment may be attempted. Do not act rashly and indiscriminately administer medicines, which would only harm oneself. Take one pig bladder, insert a goose quill into the opening of the bladder, tie it securely with thread, inflate it by blowing air into it, press the tube opening with your hand, insert the tube opening into the urethral meatus, and manipulate the tube with your hand to force air into the meatus; urine will then flow out. For cases where all medicines fail to induce urination, this method is most excellent, and it is even more effective for women.
Another prescription: Gan Sui powder (Radix Kansui), mixed with water and applied to 1.3 cun below the umbilicus. Internally, drink a decoction prepared from Gan Cao joints (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma).
Another prescription: Ban Xia powder (Pinelliae Rhizoma), mixed with a small amount of She Xiang (Moschus), filled into the umbilicus. Cover the top with a paste made from Cong Bai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus) and Tian Luo (Cipraeidae Concha), seal it on the umbilicus, and bind firmly with cloth. Below, use Zao Jiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus) to generate smoke and fumigate the genital area until urination resumes spontaneously. For women, wash the vaginal introitus with a decoction of Zao Jiao.
Another prescription: Stir-fry Shi Yan (Halitum) until hot, fill it into the umbilicus, and apply moxibustion five times above it; urination will resume.
Another prescription: Make a ring from dry flour, about one cun high, place it over the umbilicus. Place a Cong Bai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus) tube containing She Xiang (Moschus) directly into the umbilicus. Fill the ring with salt. Place a small ball of Ai Ye (Artemisiae Argyi Folium) on top of the Cong Bai tube and burn it. Repeat three to four times, or five to seven times, until urination resumes. This method is extremely effective.
Another prescription: One bulb of Du Tou Da Suan (Allium Sativum), seven fruits of Zhi Zi (Gardeniae Fructus), and a little salt. Pound them into a paste, spread on paper, and apply to 1.3 cun below the umbilicus. After a while, urination will resume. If it does not, apply to the scrotum; this is very effective.
Another prescription: Boil Bai Feng Xian Hua (Impatiens balsamina) with roots and leaves. While hot, wash the scrotum, penis, and inner thighs; urination will resume.
Another prescription: Decoct Jiu Bai (Allii Tuberosi Bulbus) to make a concentrated juice. Wash 1.3 cun below the umbilicus; urination will resume.
Another prescription: Pound one Ji Yu (Carassius auratus) into a paste. Apply a small amount to the inside of the umbilicus and 1.3 cun below it; urination will resolve.
Another prescription: Wu La Ye (Toxicodendron vernicifluum leaf), pounded and applied to the lower abdomen. For severe cases, decoct the root and take orally; the effect is miraculous and also reduces edema, but do not take excessively.
Another prescription: Take one Zhu Dan (Sus scrofa domestica gallbladder) (retain the bile). Insert the penis into the gallbladder. After a short while, the bile enters and urination resumes spontaneously. For women, drip the bile into the vagina.
Another prescription: Gong Shu Fen (Excrement of male mouse; those with pointed ends are authentic), powdered, mixed with wine, and applied to 1.3 cun below the umbilicus.
Another prescription: One Tian Luo (Cipraeidae Concha) and half a spoonful of salt. Pound fresh and apply to 1.3 cun below the umbilicus. Even if the abdomen is distended like a drum, urination can be induced.
Another prescription: Wo Niu (Helix pomatia), pound and apply to 1.3 cun below the umbilicus, massaging with the hand. Adding a small amount of She Xiang (Moschus) makes it even better.
Another prescription: Feng Yan Cao (Firmiana simplex seed, i.e., Chou Wu Tong Zi) and Si Liang of Zao Jiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus). Decoct together for five to seven boils. Add a small amount of She Xiang (Moschus), pour into a porcelain bottle, and [text incomplete].
Another prescription: Decoct Zi Su (Perillae Fructus) and pour into a wooden basin. Sit on the basin to fumigate. Externally, stir-fry salt and apply to 1.3 cun below the umbilicus.
Another prescription: Pi Xiao (Natrii Sulfas), any quantity, stir-fried until hot. Support the umbilicus with cloth, place the Pi Xiao on the cloth, and drip three to five drops of hot water; urination will resume.
Another prescription: Qiang Lang San (Dung Beetle Powder) (see Stool Gate, formulas for obstruction of both stool and urine). Treat with this; it is most effective.
Another prescription: Chen Zong (Areca catechu fiber), roasted on tiles until carbonized (preserving its nature). Take two qian with water and wine; urination will resume. It has been tested repeatedly with success.
Another prescription: For urgent pain around the umbilicus, mix two he of Sheng Niu Bang Ye汁 (Arctii Lappa leaf juice) and Sheng Di Huang汁 (Rehmanniae Radix juice), add two he of Mi (Honey). Take one he each time, add half zhan of water, boil three to five times, mix with one qian of Hua Shi powder (Talcum), and take orally.
Another prescription: Niu Xi (Achyranthis Bidentatae Radix) two qian, Che Qian Zi (Plantaginis Semen) one qian. Grind together into powder, decoct in water, and take on an empty stomach.
Another prescription: Take one bunch of Qin Cai (Apium graveolens var. dulce), pound into a pulp, wrap in new white cloth, wring out the juice, steam until cooked, and take warm. Urination will resume. Avoid iron utensils.
Another prescription: Huo Xiao (Natrii Nitras), raw-ground into powder. Take one to two qian each time, mixed with wheat decoction. This is most effective for obstruction due to cold stagnation.
Another prescription: For urinary retention where all medicines fail, use the wonderful formulas for Shi Lin (Stone Strangury) and Sha Lin (Sandy Strangury) added in the subsequent Strangury Gate; there will surely be miraculous effects.
Another prescription: Pre-wash an old straw hat, decoct, and drink the soup. Immediate effect. Drinking a decoction of Cong Tou (Allii Cepae Bulbus) is also effective.
Another prescription: A person suffered from urinary retention unresponsive to all medicines. One night, he dreamed that a deity instructed him to burn Lu Lou (Mole cricket, also known as Tu Gou) to ash, take it with wine, and urination resumed immediately.
Note
Another prescription: Tong Zi Fang (Walnut Kernel Formula) (see Stool Gate). Treatment is most excellent.
Another prescription: In cases of Qi obstruction causing urinary retention, physicians often use Ze Xie (Alismatis Rhizoma), Mu Tong (Akebiae Caulis), Che Qian Zi (Plantaginis Semen), and Zhu Ling (Polyporus) without any effect. However, using Bai Gui Shen (Angelicae Sinensis Radix) one liang, Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma) five qian, Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix) and Sheng Ma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma) two qian five fen each, with two bowls of water, decocted to eight fen, results in immediate relief upon the first dose.
