In cases of miscarriage before the full term of pregnancy, it is due to deficiency of Qi and Blood and weakness of the Zang-Fu organs. This condition is exacerbated by external pathogenic factors such as colds or emotional disturbances, leading to a chaotic rush of Essence and Blood that damages Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) Qi. Consequently, the fetus loses its nourishment, similar to a fruit falling from a withered branch. If the miscarriage has already occurred, treat with Shenghua Tang (Decoction for Generating New Blood) with modifications. If vaginal bleeding and lower back pain occur before the miscarriage, immediately administer several doses of Shisheng San (Ten-Sage Powder) or Xiong Gui Buxue Tang (Ligusticum and Cinnamon Twig Decoction for Nourishing Blood).
Shisheng San: Renshen (Ginseng Radix), Huangqi (Astragali Radix) each 2 qian; Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Baishao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizome), Shudihuang (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) each 1 qian; Sharen (Amomi Fructus) 5 fen; Xuanduan (Dipsaci Radix) 7 fen; Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) 7 fen; one slice of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens); one Jujubae Fructus. Take after meals. Avoid anger, raw/cold foods, and all spicy/hot substances.
Xiong Gui Buxue Tang: Chuanxiong, Baizhu, Ejiao (Colla Corii Asini), Baishao, Duzhong (Eucommiae Cortex), Renshen, Huangqi, Wuweizi (Schisandrae Fructus), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Gancao, plus one slice of Shengjiang and two Jujubae Fructus.
In cases where the fetus cries in the womb near the end of pregnancy or at nine months, it is because the fetus holds the umbilical cord in its mouth while breathing along with the mother. If the pregnant woman raises her hands high to reach for something, she may pull the umbilical cord out of the fetus's mouth, causing crying. Simply instruct the mother to perform a bowing motion like a man making a courtesy gesture, which will allow the umbilical cord to re-enter the fetus's mouth, stopping the crying.
Another method: Brew strong decoction of Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) and sip slowly. Huanglian 2 qian, Gancao 1 qian, decoct in water and take.
Another method: Urgently have the pregnant woman sweep the floor herself until the symptom resolves.
When a pregnant woman is near term, the bladder may be compressed by the fetal head and displaced to one side, causing acute pain below the umbilicus and inability to urinate. By lifting the fetus, the bladder returns to its original position, and urinary flow resumes naturally. Use Liujunzi Tang (Six-Gentlemen Decoction) combined with Siwu Tang (Four-Agent Decoction), removing Fuling (Poria), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma), and Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium). Induce vomiting to lift the Qi and raise the fetus. Do not use solely slippery/diuretic herbs. This condition can also occur postpartum; crush Baicong (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus), place it on the umbilicus, and apply moxibustion for immediate effect.
Liujunzi Tang: Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma, prepared with ginger) 2 qian; Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, white pith removed) 1 qian; Fuling (Poria) 1 qian; Gancao 5 fen; Renshen, Baizhu.
Siwu Tang: Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, washed with wine) 3 qian; Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix) 2 qian; Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix) 1.5 qian.
