Later, a miraculous prescription for treating blindness was added. It is effective for conditions where both eyes cannot see, glaucoma (greenish-black cornea), and inverted pupil position. Take 100 black soybeans (*Glycine max*), 5 yellow chrysanthemum flowers (*Chrysanthemi Flos*), and 6 qian of mirabilite (*Natrii Sulfas*). Add one zhong of water, decoct until three-tenths remain, and fumigate and wash the eyes while hot. Change the medicine and wash again every five days; vision can be restored after one year. Avoid tea in daily life and refrain from anger.

Another prescription: Take one chicken gallbladder, add half a spoonful of honey, tie it tightly with thread, and place it inside a pig gallbladder. Hang it under the eaves in a ventilated place out of direct sunlight for twenty-one days. Remove the pig gallbladder and keep the chicken gallbladder. First, moisten the affected area with human milk. After a short while, dip a bone hairpin into the chicken bile and apply it to the eyes. The whole body will feel cool, with tears and sweat flowing. Vision may return after two or three applications. Avoid tea for one hundred days; you may drink decoction made from mulberry leaves harvested after the Frost Descent solar term as tea substitute, and refrain from anger.

The condition where one feels unable to see despite having good eyes is described here. Take one lamb liver (slice with a bamboo knife), 1 liang of coptis rhizome (*Coptidis Rhizoma*, powdered), and 2 liang of prepared rehmannia root (*Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata*). Take loess soil from three chi below the ground, mix with water, let it settle, and use the clear water to wash the eyes. This is from Ge Xian's *Zhou Hou Fang*.

If white spots have already appeared on the eyeball, this prescription is not effective. Take 4 qian each of babule flower (*Babule Flos*), cicada slough (*Cicadae Periostracum*), white chrysanthemum (*Chrysanthemi Albi Flos*), apricot seed (*Pruni Semen*), gypsum (*Gypsum Fibrosum*), raw cassia seed (*Cassiae Semen Crude*), concha haliotidis (*Concha Haliotis*), licorice root (*Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma*), eyebright herb (*Euphrasiae Herba*), and alum (*Alumen*), 2 qian of stemona root (*Stemonae Radix*), and 4 fen of pearl (*Margarita*, separately powdered). Grind all ingredients together into powder. Do not alter the dosages. Mix and take orally.

Zhenjing Dan (Calming Essence Pill): Take 1 qian each of gypsum (*Gypsum Fibrosum*), cicada slough (*Cicadae Periostracum*), gardenia fruit (*Gardeniae Fructus*), sophora flower (*Sophorae Flos*), and white chrysanthemum (*Chrysanthemi Albi Flos*); 2 qian each of rehmannia root (*Rehmanniae Radix*) and babule flower (*Babule Flos*); 1.5 qian of cassia seed (*Cassiae Semen*); and 5 fen of licorice root (*Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma*). Decoct and take orally.

In children, due to falls or blows causing head trauma and fright, the pupil may become misaligned, seeing east when looking west, and vice versa. Use 1 liang of *Kirengeshoma* leaf (*Kirengeshomae Folium*), 7 melon stalks (*Cucumeris Melo Caulis*), and 3 fen of veratrum (*Veratri Rhizoma*). Grind them into fine powder. Blow a small amount into the nostril until the sensation reaches the top of the head. Perform this three times a day. Also, consult a famous physician to administer internal medicines such as calomel (*Calomelas*) for calming fright and soothing the liver, which will lead to spontaneous recovery. There are male and female varieties of *Kirengeshoma*; if female leaves are obtained, the effect is better.
