This condition is also known as Feng Gan (Wind Chancre), occurring on the upper thighs and extending to both legs, with a lingering course. The lesions resemble millet or beans, are red in color and itchy, and in severe cases present with redness, swelling, and pain.
At the initial stage, wash with a decoction of Genkwa Flos (Yuanhua), Zanthoxylum Pericarpium (Chuanjiao), and Phellodendri Cortex (Huangbo), which will cause the lesions to subside. For those already ulcerated, regardless of whether they are dry or wet, treat according to the various formulas for Scabies (Jie Chuang). If dampness is severe, treat according to the formulas for Yellow Water Blister (Huangshui Chuang) (see all formulas for Carbuncles). For chronic non-healing cases, Muxian Gao (Purslane Ointment) (see formulas for Toxic Carbuncles) is most effective. Alternatively, use Baiyou Gao (White Oil Ointment) (see Lower Limbs).
Those arising on the upper part of the thigh are called Tunjian (Buttock Tip); some arise on the sides. If red and swollen, treat according to the various formulas for Carbuncles; if white in color, treat according to the formulas for Yin Abscesses (Yin Ju).
This condition occurs at the junction behind the anus and the root of the external genitalia.
It is also known as Qima Yong (Riding Carbuncle), arising in the Haidi (Perineum). Initially appearing as fine granules, it gradually enlarges to the size of plums or peaches, commonly referred to as "Stealing Feces Mouse." After ulceration, if sexual intercourse leads to seminal leakage, fistulas may form. It is more dangerous for those with weak constitutions. While various fistulas should be treated medically, this one is particularly difficult to cure; the larger the fistula becomes during treatment, the harder it is to save the patient. Before suppuration, take 3 qian of Raw Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Sheng Gancao) and 3 qian of Cooked Rheis Radix et Rhizoma (Shu Dahuang), decocted in wine, taken on an empty stomach. One dose results in a cure. If suppuration has occurred, taking Xingxiao Wan (Revive and Eliminate Pill) results in a cure. If the lesion is pale in color, taking Xiaojin Dan (Little Gold Pill) results in a cure. This is a secret formula from Linwu Shanshanren.
Another prescription: Use 1 liang of Raw Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Sheng Gancao) with transverse striations, cut into segments, soak thoroughly in water, dry over gentle heat, then soak again and dry again until the center remains moist. Cut finely, add 1 liang of Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), decoct in wine, and take once daily. Complete resolution takes half a month.
Another prescription: For ulcers that have not healed for a long time and have not yet formed fistulas, apply Shuixian Gao (Narcissus Ointment) (see General Treatment of Toxic Carbuncles); it is highly effective. For those who have already formed fistulas...
This condition originates from dampness exposure, excessive alcohol and sexual activity, labor injury, and external contraction of wind-cold combined with heat. Suddenly, the hands and feet become cold and hot, with qi rising from the feet upwards to the heart and abdomen causing pain. There may be headache and body ache, distension and stuffiness, vomiting, coma, constipation, or redness and swelling of the lower legs, with chills and fever resembling Taiyang disease (Shanghan). From then on, it may occur once a month, every half month, or every few months, gradually leading to limb spasms and convulsions, and swelling of the feet and knees. This is Hongxiang Jiao (Hong Kong Foot/Gouty Arthritis), not caused by wind-cold stroke. If misdiagnosed and treated as Shanghan or Zhongfeng, the harm would be significant.
External treatment method: Take 2 liang of Alum (Baifan), 18 bowls of Earth Slurry Water (Dijiang Shui), and 3-4 pieces of new Fir Wood (Xin Shanmu). Boil for six or seven rolls. Place half in a Fir Wood Bucket (new ones are better) to soak the feet, and slowly add the remaining half. Cover the body with clothes and blankets to induce slight sweating. After washing, drink thin porridge immediately. If not cured after one session, wash twice more, adding 3 qian of Sulfur (Liu Huang) to the previous prescription. All cases will be cured. Method to obtain Earth Slurry Water: Dig two or three chi deep in clean soil, pour in freshly drawn water, stir until turbid, let settle briefly, take the semi-clear semi-turbid portion, blow away floating foam, and use.
Another prescription: Stir-fry 3 jin of Salt until hot, wrap it, and apply to the painful area. Also, step on another wrapped pack with the foot, replacing it when cool. Use nightly until heat penetrates the sole of the foot. Adding Phellodendri Amurensis Cortex (Huai Baipi) for stir-frying is even better.
Another prescription: Rub salt on the painful area, wait a moment, then wash with hot water. Someone suffered from Hongxiang Jiao, unresponsive to hundreds of medicines, but was cured of its root after obtaining this prescription.
Another prescription: Red-hot old bricks are quenched in aged rice-washing water. Wrap three bricks in cloth while hot, clamp between the knees, cover tightly with a cotton quilt, and replace when cool. Three to five times result in a cure.
Another prescription: Decoct Conger Japonicus Rhizoma (Caoshu) from Maoshan in wine and take orally to restore mobility.
Another prescription: See the Caoshu San Formula for Pain in the Lower Back, Buttocks, Legs, and Knees below.
