If the condition initially presents with aversion to wind and cold, fever, nasal congestion, or clear rhinorrhea, it is appropriate to use a method to disperse the exterior. Use Modified Shen Su Yin (Ginseng and Perilla Decoction): Taishen (Codonopsis Root), Zisu (Perilla Leaf), Chenpi (Aged Tangerine Peel), Fuling (Poria), Gancao (Licorice Root), Zhike (Bitter Orange Fruit), Jiegeng (Platycodon Root), Huangqin (Scutellaria Root), and Qianhu (Peucedanum Root), each one qian (approx. 3-5g). Use Shengjiang (Fresh Ginger) as a guide, add Boheye (Mint Leaf, a small amount), decoct in water, and take after meals.
If coughing persists for a long time, it is called "Zisu" (Cough during pregnancy). Since coughing may disturb fetal Qi and risk miscarriage, use Taishen (Codonopsis Root), Baizhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome), Fuling (Poria), Zhigancao (Honey-fried Licorice Root), Suye (Perilla Leaf), Ejiao (Donkey-hide Gelatin), and Jiegeng (Platycodon Root) in equal parts. Decoct in water and take after meals.
Another prescription: Chuanbeimu (Fritillaria Cirrhosa Bulb), remove the heart, stir-fry with flour until slightly yellow, remove the flour, and grind into powder. Form pills the size of Euryale Seed (Qianshi) using white sugar. It is excellent to hold one pill in the mouth and let it dissolve slowly. Additionally, formulas containing Xingren (Apricot Seed) and Baihe (Lily Bulb) from Volume 3, Cough Section, can also be used.
This is due to irregular fetal Qi; it is appropriate to use Shun Tai San (Fetal-Soothing Powder): Caoguo (Tsaoko Fruit) one piece, Yanyhusuo (Corydalis Rhizome) eight fen, Wulingzhi (Trogopterus Dung) one qian, Huashi (Talcum) eight fen. Decoct in wine and take when half-hungry.
Take one pig heart, do not put it in water directly; decoct it in one bowl of water to make soup. Add Feijing Zhusha (Calcined Cinnabar) three fen, mix well, and take orally. Alternatively, use Jiawei Shenmai San (Modified Ginseng and Ophiopogon Decoction) (see Postpartum Section).
Decoct one liang (approx. 30-50g) of grapes in water and drink; urination will follow immediately. Or, apply the previously mentioned Wu Zhu Yu (Evodia Fruit) foot-paste method, which is even better. It is crucial to wash off the medication once the fetal Qi stabilizes.
If one or both breasts become swollen and painful, accompanied by sensations of cold and heat, it is named "Nei Chi" (Internal Consumption/Eating). Burn one strip of Zhaojiao (Gleditsia Sinensis Thorn) until charred but retaining its properties (charred to preserve efficacy), and take it down with wine. It will dissipate immediately and not recur. Symptoms such as Ru Yong (Breast Abscess) and Ru Yan (Breast Cancer/Nodule) are detailed in Volume 2, Breast Section.
Place an iron arrowhead (previously, a needle case could also be used) under the sleeping mat. Do not let the pregnant woman know, nor anyone else. Additionally, a formula for intestinal itching in the abdomen can also be used.
Take a pair of pig kidneys (must be from the same pig, remove the white membrane). Place four qian of Qingyan (Green Salt/Rock Salt) inside the pig kidneys. Roast them in fire until charred, grind into powder, and form pills with honey. Take on an empty stomach with wine.
This condition, where fetal pressure prevents urination, causing mental restlessness and inability to lie down, is called "Zhuan Bao" (Displaced Bladder/Uterus). Take one dose of Baosheng Wuyou San (Baosheng Wuyou Powder) (formula seen earlier); the fetal Qi will rise, and urination will resume naturally. It is infallible and extraordinarily effective.
Another prescription: Beimu (Fritillaria Thunbergii Bulb), Kushen (Sophora Root), Danggui (Angelica Sinensis Root), ground into equal parts of powder. Form pills the size of soybeans using refined honey. Take three pills per dose, up to ten pills until cured.
Another prescription: Inflate a pig bladder, attach a feather tube, insert it into the vaginal opening near the urethra, and gently squeeze the bladder to blow air in. This will immediately relieve obstruction and is extremely effective. If urine volume is low and accompanied by astringency and pain, refer to the Zilin (Subsequent Urinary Difficulties) formula for treatment.
