Its symptoms include severe cramping pain in the heart and abdomen, accompanied by vomiting and diarrhea. Use Zi Su (Perilla Leaf), Tiao Qin (a type of Scutellariae Radix, Huangqin), and Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) each at 1.5 qian; Huo Xiang Ye (Agastachis Folium), Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), and Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) each at 1 qian; Sha Ren (Amomi Fructus) stir-fried at 0.5 qian. Use Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) and Zao (Jujubae Fructus) as guides, decoct with water, and take orally.
In cases where one is affected by the toxic heat of summer during the peak of summer, the symptoms include fever with thirst, spontaneous sweating, mental confusion and lethargy, fatigue of the four limbs, and shortness of breath. Use Qing Shen He Tai Yin: Tai Dang Shen (Codonopsis Radix), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Zhi Gan Cao (Prepared Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Zhi Huang Qi (Prepared Astragali Radix), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Zhi Mu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), and Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix) each at 1 qian; Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus) 15 grains. Decoct with water and take orally.
If a pregnant woman, upon rising early, is exposed to mist and dew, or caught in the rain, or resides in damp places for a long time, or takes a cold bath after sweating, the symptoms include fever, painful and vexed joints, heavy body with headache, and nasal congestion. Use Huang Qin Bai Zhu Tang: Tiao Qin (Scutellariae Radix) and Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma) each at 5 qian; Su Ye (Perillae Folium) at 2.5 qian; Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) 5 slices. Decoct with water and take orally.
If a pregnant woman contracts wind-stroke, presenting with spasms and stiffness of the hands and feet, sudden collapse and unconsciousness, deviation of the mouth and eyes, convulsions of the hands and feet, and inability to speak due to locked jaw, conventional methods for treating wind-stroke should not be used. The treatment should primarily focus on tonifying deficiency and calming the fetus, while simultaneously using agents that dispel wind. Tai Dang Shen (Codonopsis Radix), Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), Fu Ling (Poria), Sheng Di Huang (Rehmanniae Radix), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Gui Shen (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Zhi Gan Cao (Prepared Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), Huang Qi (Astragali Radix), Fang Feng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Qiang Huo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), and Qin Jiao (Gentianae Macrophyllae Radix) each at 2 qian. Use Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) and Zao (Jujubae Fructus) as guides, decoct with water, and take frequently until the condition stabilizes. If the jaw is tightly closed, phlegm and qi are obstructed, and consciousness is lost, first use Huang La (Beeswax), Ku Fan (Alumen), and Ma Huang (Ephedrae Herba) each at 0.4 qian, grind into powder, melt together, and apply to the upper jaw. Then administer the above formula orally.
This condition, characterized by immobility of the hands and feet, is caused by phlegm in the stomach condensing blood and qi. It is suitable to use Wu Yao Shun Qi San (see Menstrual Regulation Section) or refer to Volume 10.
This condition involves wind pathogen; medication should not be taken. Rubbing with camphor mixed with wine will lead to recovery. Alternatively, refer to the external treatment formulas for generalized pruritus in Volume 16.
The previous five sections mention a formula applying Wu Yu (Evodiae Fructus) to the soles, which is highly effective. Once the fetus is stabilized, it must be washed off.
After the fifth or sixth month of pregnancy, if fetal qi is disharmonious and rushes upward causing distension, fullness, and pain in the heart and abdomen, this is called Zi Xuan (Fetal Distension). Use Zi Su Yin: Zi Su (Perillae Folium), Chen Pi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium), Da Fu Pi (Arecae Pericarpium), Chuan Xiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba), and Gui Shen (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) each at 1 qian; Lu Dang Shen (Codonopsis Radix) and Zhi Gan Cao (Prepared Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) each at 0.5 qian; Sheng Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma) 5 slices; Cong Bai (Allii Fistulosi Bulbus) 7 cun. Decoct with water and take on an empty stomach.
