This pill can prolong one's own life and facilitate the birth of children. It is suitable for those who are ill, and even more beneficial for those who are healthy. For young men who fail to conceive, or young women who have never been pregnant, or those who suffer miscarriages after conception, or who give birth only to daughters, or whose infants cannot survive infancy, or who die in childhood, or who remain alive but suffer from frequent illnesses—all these conditions stem from a deficiency of primordial Yang Qi (Zheng Yang), and all are suitable for taking this pill.
Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma) 2 liang 5 qian (select firm rhizomes; avoid those with insect damage; increase dosage slightly for those with Spleen deficiency prone to diarrhea). Huang Jing (Polygonati Rhizoma) 5 liang 2 qian (select pure material, pound separately into paste for later use; if using Da He Shou Wu [Polygoni Multiflori Radix Preparata], 2 liang 5 qian may be used, up to 3 liang: soak in Black Bean Decoction until soft, crush with a wooden mallet, place in a ceramic vessel, pour Black Bean Decoction at the bottom, ensure it is moistened with bean decoction, steam for the duration of one incense stick, cool and dry; repeat steaming and drying after water dries, nine times in total. In summer, steam and dry three to four times daily until extremely dry, then weigh accurately). Chuan Du Zhong (Eucommiae Cortex) 2 liang (stir-fry, grind, take pure powder, weigh accurately). Chuan Xu Duan (Dipsaci Radix) 2 liang (moisten with wine, peel clean flesh, cut into pieces, dry in sun). Da Shu Di (Rehmanniae Radix Preparata) 4 liang (cooked version loses flavor and aroma, unsuitable; must undergo nine steaming and nine drying cycles for best effect. For Yin deficiency, 6 liang may be used). Zi He Che (Placenta Hominis) (select that formed by autumn Yin Qi; also tonifies Yin deficiency, not suitable for Yang deficiency). There is another herb called She Mei (Rubri Fragariae Fructus), a creeping vine with thornless leaves covered in white hairs, bearing red fruits ripe in March-April, tasteless; besides clearing Stomach heat, other parts are unsuitable. Sha Yuan Ji Li (Astragali Complanati Semen) 2 liang 5 qian (shaped like pig kidneys, half dried, paper-dried). Tu Si Zi (Cuscutae Semen) (use dried, weighed). [Text fragment unclear] not ground into powder, water [unclear], do not slice, use during menstruation, increase dosage). Gan Zhou Gou Qi Zi (Lycii Fructus) [added to paste of Shan Yao and Jujube].
