1. Hanging, 2. Crushed by walls, 3. Drowning, 4. Nightmare (sleep paralysis or dream terror), 5. Freezing to death. These methods also treat all cases of Stroke (Zhong Feng), Phlegm Obstruction (Zhong Tan), Heatstroke (Zhong Shu), Excess Heat (Zhong Re), and Corpse Syncope (Shi Jue - a coma-like state resembling death), sudden collapse, unconsciousness, and other symptoms. Take fresh Pinelliae Rhizoma (Sheng Banxia) and Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus Spinae (Ya Zao), each five fen, grind them together into a fine powder. Blow an amount the size of a soybean into the nostrils; for males, use the left side; for females, the right side. The patient will regain consciousness immediately upon sneezing.
For those who have hanged themselves, prick the comb of a chicken and drip the blood into the mouth. Use a male rooster for males and a female hen for females. For drowning victims, administer duck blood. For freezing victims, administer ginger soup or warm wine. Victims of freezing must strictly avoid exposure to fire; if roasted over fire, they cannot be saved. For burns and scalds, it is strictly forbidden to pour cold water or apply cold objects, as this may cause heat toxins to attack inward. If iced with cold water, there is even the risk of tissue rotting down to the tendons and bones.
In cases of poisoning from any medicinal substances or dietary toxins, urgently prepare Humanis Faeces Praeparata (Ren Zhong Huang) that has been aged for a long time, mix with warm water, and administer orally. If Ren Zhong Huang is unavailable, immediately administer Feces Clarificatum (Fen Qing), which instantly resolves the toxicity. The method for obtaining Fen Qing in haste: take overnight feces from a latrine, wrap in cloth, filter to extract the juice, clarify it, and drink it; this is extremely effective. To detoxify various poisons generally, its efficacy surpasses that of other medicines. In critical emergencies, this method is indispensable; do not disdain its filth, for one's fear of death should exceed their aversion to filth. Benevolent gentlemen who wish to save the world must prepare this medicine, Ren Zhong Huang, in advance. The method for preparing Ren Zhong Huang has been detailed in the annotations of the pediatric formula for reducing smallpox scars added in this volume.
For food or drink poisoning where the specific toxin is unknown in haste, use equal parts of Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Sheng Gancao) and Capsellae Bursa-Pastoris Herba (Ji Cai), decoct in water, and drink.
Another prescription: Phaseoli Radiati Semen (Lu Dou) and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Sheng Gancao), decoct in water and take orally to resolve toxicity. In emergencies, drinking large amounts of Sesamum Indicum Oleum (Ma You) also resolves toxicity. For any poisoning, crush Alumen (Bai Fan) and Camelliae Sinensis Folium Germinans (Ya Cha) into powder, mix with cold water, and take orally to resolve toxicity.
For Stroke, Phlegm Obstruction, Evil Qi Invasion (Zhong E), poisoning, Cold Syncope (Han Jue - cold extremities due to yang deficiency), and all sudden critical conditions, crush Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (Sheng Jiang) to obtain its natural juice, mix with Infantis Urina (Tong Bian), and administer orally for immediate relief.
Additionally, for Stroke or Phlegm Obstruction resulting in unconsciousness with abundant phlegm-saliva, crush Alumen Crudum (Sheng Ming Fan) into powder, mix with Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens juice, administer two qian, and the patient will wake up after vomiting thick phlegm.
Furthermore, for Wind-Phlegm, Cold Syncope, throat obstruction (Hou Bi) with unconsciousness, and all acute conditions, collect oil from a lamp wick holder or settled oil from a lamp bowl, use a chicken wing feather to sweep it into the throat to induce vomiting of phlegm-saliva, leading to recovery.
