For scalds from boiling water or burns from fire, regardless of severity, immediately administer urine from a young boy to prevent the "fire toxin" from attacking the heart. Alternatively, take white rock sugar mixed with hot water, or honey mixed with warm water for administration; both are effective. First and foremost, do not use cold water, well mud, or ditch mud. Even if the pain is unbearable, one must endure it. If cold water is mistakenly used to wash the wound, the heat will be forced inward. In mild cases, this leads to rotting deep into the tendons and bones, causing flexion and contraction of the hands and feet, resulting in lingering and difficult-to-cure conditions. In severe cases, the heat attacks the heart directly, making rescue impossible. Apply genuine Sesame Oil (Semen Sesami Nigrum Oleum) first, then use the water obtained from rinsing glutinous rice (remove the grains and keep the liquid), adding one teacup of genuine Sesame Oil (more is better). Stir in one direction with chopsticks until emulsified for excellent effect.
Another prescription: Use aged urine from a urinal (fresh urine is also acceptable) to soak or pour over the injury for about an hour, then apply a mixture of honey and genuine Sesame Oil.
Another prescription: Apply genuine Tung Oil (Aleuritis Fordi Oleum) (genuine Sesame Oil is also acceptable) first, then sprinkle a small amount of table salt on top, followed by powder made from raw Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati (Dahuang, 大黄). It takes immediate effect.
Another prescription: Take several earthworms, mix with white sugar, cover with a bowl, and let sit for half a day until they liquefy. Apply this liquid to the wound; it is miraculous and fast. If earthworms are unavailable, Agriolimax agrestis (slug, commonly known as "nose mucus worm") can be used instead.
Another prescription: Apply opium smoke residue to the wound; it provides immediate cooling and pain relief. There was a case of a person burned by gunpowder where all other medicines failed and pain was unceasing; after using this prescription, he recovered.
Another prescription, Cooling Paste: Take newly retrieved calcined stone (Duanshi, 锻石) from a cellar, dissolve it in cold water (use plenty of water, not too little). The next day, a layer resembling thin ice forms on the surface; collect this substance (Danpinao, 丹皮硝).
Another prescription: Boil Sesame Oil, then add Beeswax (Cera Flava) and boil a few times. Add White Honey and boil until uniform. Place in cold water for half a day to remove the "fire qi." Apply using a duck feather (an old brush also works); the pain stops immediately. For severe injuries, it can also be taken internally to prevent the toxin from attacking the heart.
Another prescription: Take a basket of pig hair, stir-fry in a pot until it turns into black liquid. Remove, cool, add several qian of Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati (Dahuang, 大黄), and grind together into powder. Add one fen of Borneolum Syntheticum (Bingpian, 冰片). This powder can be mixed with Sesame Oil, Tea Seed Oil, or Candle Wax Oil for application. It is an extremely effective prescription.
Another prescription: Use shells of Arca inflata (Clam Shell, also known as Walengzi, 瓦楞子), calcined until brittle, ground into fine powder. Mix with a small amount of Borneolum Syntheticum (Bingpian, 冰片). If the wound is moist, apply dry powder; if dry, mix with Sesame Oil for application.
Another prescription: When scalds or burns are treated improperly, leading to redness, swelling, pain, and pus formation due to toxic decay, use four liang of Sesame Oil and one liang of Radix Angelicae Sinensis (Danggui, 当归). Fry them in the oil until charred, strain out the dregs, then add one liang of Yellow Beeswax and melt. Remove the "fire qi" by heating over water. Spread on cloth and apply to the wound; it immediately stops pain and promotes tissue regeneration. It is highly effective.
Another prescription: Apply human milk mixed with salt.
All the above prescriptions are simple and miraculous. Even if the injury covers the whole body, the condition is critical, or the ulceration has persisted for a long time, they yield remarkable results.
Another prescription: Ash from bamboo damaged by insects, stored for regular use. Mix with Sesame Oil and apply when needed; it is extremely effective.
Another prescription: Chew tea leaves thoroughly (rinse mouth clean before chewing) and apply to the wound; it heals immediately.
Another prescription: Store pumpkin in a jar buried in the soil for several months until it liquefies; the older, the better. For scalds or burns, apply this liquid; it heals instantly. In northern China, pumpkin is called "Wogua." Cucumber can also be used. It has been tested repeatedly with divine efficacy.
Another prescription: Soak sunflower heads in oil and apply; the older, the better.
Another prescription: Two jin of genuine Sesame Oil and half a jin of sliced raw Rhizoma Polygoni Cuspidati (Dahuang, 大黄). Boil in a copper pot until the medicine turns dark black. Store the liquid and dregs together in a clay jar. For scalds or burns, dip a duck feather (or old brush) into the oil and apply. It stops pain miraculously and heals in two days. Prepare this in advance for emergency use.
