Those presenting with red coloration and pain are of this type. Apply the white frost collected from the interior walls of a man's urine bucket to the affected area; it will immediately cool the area and relieve pain. Reapply when the dressing dries. Alternatively, one may treat it according to the various formulas for treating *biao ju* (acute infectious skin disease).
Wash with water decocted from fir wood shavings; or mix yellow bile from a living crab with talcum powder and honey to make a paste for topical application, which is highly effective. This is a formula by Linwu Shanshan. To prevent lacquer dermatitis in areas where lacquer trees grow, chew Sichuan pepper (*Chuanjiao*) beforehand and apply it to the nostrils.
Another formula: Roast *Guanzhong* (Cyrtomium fortunei) until charred, grind into powder, and mix with sesame oil for topical application. Alternatively, apply juice extracted from crushed Chinese chives (*Jiucai*). Or wipe with goat milk; all are effective.
Yet another formula: Wash with water decocted from leaves of the white fruit tree (*Baiguo*), which causes immediate resolution; complete recovery occurs after three applications. Alternatively, wash with water decocted from fresh lotus leaves, which is also extremely effective.
Yet another formula: Crush a living crab to extract its juice and drip it into the lesion to allow toxic fluids to drain out, leading to self-healing. If the area is already swollen and ulcerated, apply raw crab yellow; although the ulceration may temporarily worsen, it heals within a few days. If these methods remain ineffective, administer orally a decoction of 3 qian of raw *Dahuang* (Rhubarb Rhizome) and 2 qian of *Zhiqiao* (Aurantium Fructus), taken over two doses. Recovery occurs upon experiencing diarrhea. If diarrhea does not occur, add 2 qian of *Mangxiao* (Natrii Sulfas) and continue until diarrhea is induced. This is because severe cases of lacquer dermatitis involve excessive fire-toxin, which cannot be cured without purgation.
In cases where tinea involves internal parasites, recurrence after treatment indicates that the herbs are not ineffective but rather that the parasites have not been fully eradicated. Treating again upon recurrence ensures cure. Tinea on the head and face that enters the eyes can develop into leprosy (*Da mafeng*); urgent treatment is required. Take 1–2 jin of fresh *Zaojiaoci* (Gleditsiae Sinensis Spina), crush them, and decoct until nearly forming a paste. Add good vinegar and continue decocting until thick. Shave the affected tinea skin and apply the paste. Shave and apply daily; toxic fluid will naturally drain out. Continue applying for ten days after drainage ceases. Even chronic, stubborn, malignant tinea lasting decades can be eradicated. This is a divine formula repeatedly verified by Linwu Shanshan.
Another formula: Mix 5 fen of *Banmao* (Mylabris) with 1 qian of raw *Banxia* (Pinelliae Rhizoma) powder. Apply several times mixed with egg yolk oil; pain will surely resolve. Reapply upon recurrence; even long-standing malignant tinea can be eradicated. The method for obtaining egg yolk oil is found in the formulas for carbuncles and toxins.
Another formula: Calcine *Qingfan* (Melanteritum) until it forms lumps, then grind into fine powder. Mix with pig bile, calcine again, and grind again. Cut a piece of old ginger, dip it into the powder, and rub it onto the lesion; severe pain will cease and healing will follow. Reapply upon recurrence; even long-standing stubborn tinea can be eradicated.
Another formula: Take one large beehive, fill the holes with *Baijian* (Alumen) powder, and heat until the alum melts. Grind uniformly. Scratch the tinea open and apply a mixture of *Yaxiao* (Natrii Nitras) and water once or twice; pain will surely cease and healing will follow. Reapply upon recurrence; eradication is certain.
Another formula: Grind *Lizhihe* (Litchi Seed) with vinegar. Scratch the tinea open and rub with the mixture. Although painful, do not fear it; recovery occurs within a few days. Reapplication upon recurrence ensures eradication.
Another formula: Pull fresh cotton wool into a layer as thin as paper. Place the cotton over the tinea area according to its size. Ignite the cotton with fire; it burns up instantly, stopping itching immediately without causing burning or suppuration. No other medication is needed. It is extremely simple and effective, requiring only one application for complete cure. If it recurs the following year, repeat the treatment once to eradicate it.
Another formula: Rub *Zhulanhua ye* (Magnolia Flower Leaves) frequently; eradication occurs within half a month.
