Taking Liuyi San (Six-to-One Powder) is most excellent. Alternatively, one may apply cold objects made of copper or iron to the abdomen for moxibustion-like warming (though here used as a cold compress/ironing), or take Sha medicine (medicine for heatstroke and summerheat disorders). If the pain is severe, accompanied by vomiting or diarrhea, treat according to the various formulas for Huoluan (Cholera-like disease) and Sha syndrome found in Volume 15. Furthermore, if there is upper vomiting and lower diarrhea with abdominal pain, and treatment according to Huoluan and Sha syndrome proves ineffective, one must refer to the formulas for upper vomiting and lower diarrhea within the section on Yege Fanwei (Dysphagia and Regurgitation).
For Chong tong (Pain caused by intestinal parasites), if hard lumps rise up, rub and massage the hard area with the hand for a long time; after rubbing for a day, the parasites will die and be expelled through the stool. Alternatively, consult the various formulas in the Pi Ji (Abdominal Masses and Accumulations) section for treatment. This covers abdominal pain due to Ganji (Childhood malnutrition due to parasitic infection) and Chongji (Parasitic accumulation) in adults and children, as well as various types of abdominal distension and pain associated with Pi Kuai (Abdominal masses) and Zheng Jia (Fixed and movable masses) in men and women.
The formula is seen in the Yinshi Zhi Ji (Food Stagnation and Accumulation) section.
When the body suffers from cold and fever, with heart and abdominal pain, obstruction of Qi mechanism between upper and lower parts (Guan Ge), constipation, scanty and difficult urination, whole-body tension, stiffness of hands, feet, waist, and knees, and loss of consciousness, treat using the Ironing Method (Wen Fa) from the "Various Formulas for Internal and External Use" section in Volume 11; this is most excellent.
This condition involves sudden abdominal distension that gradually enlarges like a drum, indicating extreme Cold. Delay leads to untreatability. Urgently use two qian of Wuying Wuqiang Yao (Gunpowder from military muskets); Bazhu Yao (Firecracker powder) has a slower effect and is ineffective. Boil the best liquor (Baijiu) until rolling, dissolve the powder in it, and administer orally. Induction of vomiting and diarrhea signifies survival. Do not misuse this for cases where distension does not occur suddenly.
If the abdomen is hard as stone and pain feels like knife-cutting, see the Hou Pi Ji Men (Posterior Section on Abdominal Masses/Dysentery). Drink sugar-boiled wine; recovery occurs after several doses.
This is caused by Wind invasion. Boil and eat many scallion heads, and simultaneously stir-fry scallions and ginger until hot, then apply them to the abdomen for external warming; self-healing will occur.
Whenever the skin of the belly suddenly turns blue-black, this indicates failure of Blood and Qi to nourish the area, allowing Wind-Cold to exploit the deficiency, resulting in a bizarre manifestation. It is truly a critical and malignant syndrome of collapse. If not treated rapidly, rescue is difficult. Urgently grind Da Qing (Indigo Naturalis) into fine powder, take 1.5 qian per dose, mixed and taken down with good liquor. When the black color recedes, healing occurs. Otherwise, the condition remains critical; this is a formula capable of bringing the dead back to life. Da Qing grows mostly beside streams and ditches; its leaves resemble those of Hemp (Cannabis sativa). Pharmacy products are often counterfeit; fresh herb shops have genuine ones. There is also Xiao Qing, with finer leaves, same nature and flavor, but slightly weaker efficacy.
Another formula: Stir-fry Qian Fen (Lead Carbonate) with salt until charred, and apply externally; this is also effective.
