Vomiting food eaten in the morning at dusk is called Fanwei (Regurgitation); vomiting immediately after eating is called Ye (Choking/Dysphagia); vomiting food long after it has been swallowed is called Ge (Obstruction). This formula can treat symptoms such as Fanwei, Ye, and Ge. Use 6 liang of dry sugar (specifically the first-press sugar sold in sugar workshops) and 4 liang of raw, old ginger. Mix these two ingredients evenly, pound them into a paste to form cakes, and bake them until dry. Add 2 liang of Zhi Gancao (Honey-fried Licorice Root), and grind everything together into powder.
It has the effects of eliminating obstruction, promoting digestion, regulating Qi, and resolving phlegm. Chew dried tangerine peel cakes thoroughly, and swallow with boiling fresh ginger decoction. The effect is miraculous; do not neglect it because it seems simple.
(Also includes formulas for Xin Tong [Heart Pain] and Wei Tong [Stomach Pain].)
Use 1 liang of thousand-year-old Duanshi (Smelting Stone), 5 qian of Sheng Bai Fan (Raw Alum), and 5 qian of Shu Bai Fan (Calcined Alum). Grind them into powder, make pills the size of paulownia seeds using fresh ginger juice, and take 7 pills each time, delivered with ginger decoction or distilled liquor. Recovery will follow.
Another formula: Moxibustion with genuine Qiai (Qicheng Mugwort) on the thumb. For males, use the left hand; for females, the right hand. Perform this five times for extreme efficacy.
For patients presenting with locked jaw and impending death, use 5 stalks of old scallion white parts. Remove skin and roots, pound into a paste, insert into the throat with a spoon, and pour in 4 liang of sesame oil. If the patient can swallow, they will regain consciousness.
Another formula: Take 1 fen of Shan Yang Xue (Goat Blood), dissolve it in distilled liquor, and administer orally. Alternatively, take 5 qian of Dan Dou Chi (Prepared Soybean), decoct in half a zhong of water, and drink. Recovery will also occur.
Another formula: Use equal parts of Wu Ling Zhi (Trogopterus Dung) and Pu Huang (Typha Pollen), grind into powder. Take 1 qian each time, mixed with vinegar water. Recovery will follow. This formula is particularly effective for treating Qi and Blood pain in postpartum women.
Take one Madouling (Aristolochia Fructus), burn until carbonized but retaining its nature, grind into powder, and mix with warm wine for oral administration.
Another formula: Use 1 liang of Zhi Xiang Fu (Processed Cyperi Rhizoma) and 2 qian of Bai Fan (Alum). Grind into powder, bind with wheat flour paste to make pills the size of beans. Take 7 pills on an empty stomach, delivered with good wine. After taking the medicine, immediately cover oneself with a thick cotton quilt and sleep to induce sweating, which will eradicate the root cause. Avoid green vegetables, fish, meat, and ginger (stimulating foods) for seven days.
Wu Ling Zhi (Acid-fried) 2 qian, Gong Ding Xiang (Male Clove Bud, not heated, ground into powder) 4 fen, Ming Xiong Huang (Realgar) 4 qian, Ba Dou Shuang (Croton Seed Frost, defatted pure powder) 4 fen, Bai Hu Jiao (White Pepper) weighed accurately. Grind all medicinal powders into an extremely fine powder.
Wu Ling Zhi (Acid-fried), Guang Mu Xiang (Costus Root, sliced, sun-dried, not heated), Ku Fan (Calcined Alum), and Xiong Huang (Realgar) each 2 qian. Grind into fine powder. Take when pain occurs.
