This condition arises from moxibustion on the ulcer with mugwort fire; after the scab falls off, flesh pieces within the wound fly out like butterflies, causing unbearable pain. This indicates excessive heat in both blood and flesh, a strange disease. Use Natrii Sulfas (Puxiao) and Radix et Rhizoma Rhei (Dahuang), each 5 qian, ground into powder, mixed with water and taken orally. One episode of diarrhea leads to recovery. Contraindicated for those with weak constitutions; drink one bowl of pure Sesame Oil (Mahu You), and apply Evodiae Fructus (Wuzhuyu) powder mixed with vinegar to the soles of the feet.

Heilong Dan (Black Dragon Pill): Treats all kinds of malignant ulcers and strange toxins. Due to excessive force when squeezing pus, tissue protrudes, small as rice grains or large as plums or mushrooms, with red, flowering edges that fail to retract over time. This is named "toxic root," caused by damage to Qi and meridians. People often use descending/corrosive medicines to destroy it, but the pain is extreme, intolerable for the weak, and recurrence is common, leading to chronic non-healing. Take 1 liang of prepared Rehmanniae Radix (Shudihuang) sliced, dried, roasted until charred, and 3 qian of true Mume Fructus (Wumei) flesh roasted to charcoal (Note: Wumei is often counterfeited with plums, which is ineffective; homemade is best). Grind together uniformly to an extremely fine powder, sprinkle onto plaster (regardless of the type of plaster, mix this pill with Fengzi (Fangfeng) and Cimicifugae Rhizoma (Shengma), each 1 qian, decocted in water, to apply immediately for retraction). Subsequently take kidney-tonifying medicine to prevent recurrence, which is also remarkably effective. Strictly avoid goose meat.

Another prescription: First apply Ping'an Bing (Peaceful Cake), then overlay with Yanghe Jiening Gao (Yanghe Resolving Stasis Plaster) (see formulas for carbuncles and sores); if this plaster is unavailable, applying only the cake is acceptable. It works upon application.

Ping'an Bing (Peaceful Cake): 1 qian of true Mume Fructus (Wumei) flesh, 5 fen of Calomelas (Qingfen), mixed and ground until no powder shine is visible. If too hard, add a little white honey (do not use water). Process into a paste and form into cakes. For mild cases, apply only this cake without Yanghe Jiening Gao, or simply roast Mume Fructus (Wumei) until carbonized, grind into powder, let cool, and apply. Recovery occurs overnight, which is even faster.

Another prescription: Portulacae Herba (Machixian), roasted until charred and ground into powder, mixed with lard for topical application. Highly effective for mild cases. Strictly avoid goose meat.

Tuiguan Wan (Tube-Removing Pill): 3 qian of old glazed tile bottoms from temples (stir-fried thoroughly with bran), Cinnabar (Chensha, water-triturated, ground separately), and human nails (stir-fried thoroughly with bran, ground separately). Grind all together to an extremely fine powder. Administer gradually. Patients with long-standing conditions recover after one course; recent cases resolve with half a course. Even cases lasting twenty years are effective, tested repeatedly with miraculous results. Avoid green onions and tubular foods for 100 days, and avoid sexual release. Refer to precautions for previous carbuncle/toxin treatments.

Another prescription: Stir-fry Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum (Biejia), grind into powder, mix with sesame oil for topical application. The tube will be expelled; highly effective. For tubes present for many years, the effect may be slower.

Another prescription: Apply Jingsheng Sha Gao (Beijing Sand Plaster). Superficial cases expel the tube in 7-8 days, deep cases in half a month. Effective regardless of duration.
