One prescription: First, clean the wound with strong tea, then apply sesame oil sediment (Mahuang Jiaozhi, the precipitate of sesame oil) on it; this is very effective.
For various sores that develop maggots due to the gathering of flies, sprinkle fine powder of Han Shui Shi (Calcitum, 寒水石) onto the lesion (the powder should be as fine as incense ash; if not fine enough, it will cause pain). If there are no flies, but donkey or horse sweat has entered the sore (whether hair or tail hairs have entered, or if it was triggered by smelling donkey/horse sweat odor, the treatment is the same), urgently prick to drain purple-black blood, and chew real Wumei (Mume Fruit, 乌梅) until mushy, then apply it to the wound.
Another prescription: Burn millet stalks to ash, leach with water to obtain the juice, and wash the affected area. When all white foam flows out, it will heal; this is extremely effective.
Another prescription: Dry winter melon peel in the sun, grind into powder, and apply it to the sore. Also, decoct a soup for washing.
If donkey or horse feces enter the sore, treat according to the prescriptions for "donkey/horse sweat entering the sore." Alternatively, using Xiamu San (Toad Powder, 虾蟆散) or Hong Gaoyao (Red Plaster, 红膏药) (see above) yields even better results.
If bamboo/wood splinters or miscellaneous objects enter the sore, using Qianglang San (Dung Beetle Powder, 蜣螂散) (see section on "Copper, Iron, Bamboo, Wood Splinters Entering Flesh") or Hong Gaoyao (Red Plaster, 红膏药) is both effective.
Whenever sore toxins fail to heal and close up after a long time, and the sore opening becomes hard and painful, this condition is called "Fan Hua Qi Gang" (Flower-Overturning Anus-like Sores). Take a Toad (Laixama, 癞虾蟆) (do not use those with red lips and no 'eight-character' pattern on the belly), cut open its abdomen and puncture several holes (using the whole body including internal organs), and cover the sore opening. For mild cases, change once a day; for severe cases, change twice a day. Internally administer Xingxiao Wan (Awakening Elimination Pill, 醒消丸) (see sections on Carbuncle Toxin Prescriptions).
Feng Youye from Yixing had an injury starting from the dorsum of his right foot extending to the popliteal fossa. It began as a simple sore toxin but degenerated into a rotting leg for over thirty years. The surrounding tissue of the sore opening was hard, and his lower leg and foot were swollen like a measuring dipper. The ulcerated hole could accommodate a large fist. Sometimes it bled, and the foul pus filled the room with an unbearable stench. He used to pack a cloth-wrapped brick-like object into the hole to prevent empty pain. He was seventy-four years old at the time. In the sixth year of Yongzheng, he sought my treatment. I used an old Toad (Laixama, 癞虾蟆), cut open its abdomen, punctured holes in its body, and applied it [context implies external application, though text says "take two doses morning and evening"]. Three days later, take fresh Niubangzi Cao (Arctium Herb, 牛蒡子草, also known as Dali Zi Cao) and fresh Zihua Diding Cao (Viola Herb, 紫花地丁草), crush them and fill/pack them outside the hole, continuing to use Xingxiao Wan (Awakening Elimination Pill, 醒消丸)...
